About this product

What is Resco Scissor Style Nail Clippers?

The Resco Scissor Style Nail Clippers are a grooming tool for your pet's nails. The trimmers have two heavy-duty stainless steel blades, which cut in a scissor-like motion to cut your pet's nails. This small size dog nail trimmer is perfect for trimming your small to medium sized pet's nails with ease! Nail sizes vary, but generally, a 10-50 pound dog would use this size trimmer. If your pet's nail is thinner than a #2 pencil, this is the trimmer for you.

Suitable For:

Dogs and Cats

Benefits:

  • Ergonomic handles for a comfortable and supportive grip
  • Long lasting with double lock pivot screw for tight cutting operation
  • Scissor style design for easy precision trimming
  • Professional quality, used by Veterinarians and Groomers
  • Comfortable soft rubber grip molded handles

How it Works:

The Resco Pro Series Plier Style nail trimmer has been engineered with professional groomers and veterinarians in mind. The heavy-duty metal handles with soft rubber grips allow the scissor-style trimmer to rest comfortably in the hand, reducing wrist strain and fatigue. The large opening is perfect for all sized nails, and the thick stainless steel cutting blades make cutting your pets nails easy and stress-free. Its unique double lock pivot screw feature keeps the blades tightly pressed together for that smooth, clean cut every Resco nail clipper is known for.

Cautions:

Always be careful not to cut too close to the 'quick', which contains nerves and blood vessels. It is painful and will bleed easily. On light-colored claws, the quick is the pink section and is easier to see. You cannot see the quick on dark-colored claws, making them difficult to trim without cutting into the quick. Cut dark colored claws in several small cuts to reduce the chance of cutting into the quick.

Directions:

  • Anyone can use the Resco Pro-Series Scissor Trimmers as the heavy duty metal handles with soft rubber grips allow the scissor style trimmer to rest comfortably in the hand, reducing wrist strain and fatigue.
  • Use in bright light and cut each nail a little at a time to prevent cutting the quick. The quick is the fleshy section inside of the nail that contains nerves and blood vessels so that cutting causes bleeding.
  • As nails grow, so does the quick. If your pet's nails are extremely long, trim just a little off and wait a week before trimming the nails again. The quick will regress a small amount each time the nail is shortened. Over several weeks, the nail can be shortened to the desired length without cutting the quick.
Tip:

If your pet's nails make a clicking sound when they walk, they are probably too long. Hold your pet's foot and press the toe gently so that the nail extends fully. If the nail curves beyond the bottom of the toe pad, it's too long.

Not worth the money
I have four large doges and used these clippers 6 times. The blade is so dull I had to throw them in the trash. Not enough bang for the buck.

Clipping
I am surprised that you have no caution. It is imperative that one must not clip the nails too short. If the nail has been allowed to grow too long, the nerve endings also grow. What might seem to be a normal cut back of the nail, could actually cut into that nerve, causing excruciating pain and bleeding. I am not an expert, but, I would think you are. I am sure you can provide the necessary cautions.

Great Clippers
I have had these clippers for several years now and I love them. They are heavy duty, not like the flimsy ones you buy at the pet stores for an even higher price. I use them with my medium size dog and two cats. They are sharp enough for my dogs nails and the lock doesn't get in the way like many others I have tried. I will be purchasing another paid to give to my mom.

Great for Small - Med dogs
Just bought these clippers after trying to use the guiloten type from pet smart (green plastic handle ones) (junk). These clippers on the other hand are very heavy duty and are sharp. Normally my Pugs's hate to have their nails clipped. But with these I was able to trim them without too much fuss. Very nice trimmers. The only reason I have not given it a 5 star is because it is new and have not put any time on them.

best puchase in a long time
I bought these because the pet stores were charging too much money to trim my dogs nails, plus Radar hated going, howled like a coyote every time. With these, he just sits there and lets me cut his nails. I have 3 dogs and the cost of these clippers has already paid for itself.

sharp, clean cut
I was surprised at how clean the cut was compared to the guillotine-style clippers I've been using. I always had to do some manual clean up with my old clippers, but every nail I trimmed today with this pair was completely clean. I found that they don't work as well if you turn the nail sideways while clipping. I used them on cats so I'm not sure how they'd do on really thick dog nails. My only caution is that I clipped the first paw closer to the vein than intended because of how these clippers are alligned. I only gave them 4 stars because I haven't had them long enough to feel comfortable giving the full 5 stars.
