Works great and very sturdy
I bought this comb two months ago. It worked great, but I wanted to test it over time. The teeth on this comb held up extremely well. I use both hands to comb through the thick coat on my three dogs. That puts a tremendous amount of stress on the teeth. Other cheaper flea combs don't last very long before the teeth began to bend. I highly recommend this comb.

So useful
I foster dogs regularly, and even though they were supposed to be washed before I received them, I could never trust that they are bug-less till I properly comb them with this! i witness plenty of fleas that this comb was able to brush out, and I know it works before if I wash the dogs afterwards usually there will be little to no bugs left

A great flea comb
We had a flea outbreak. This comb works great in removing fleas, flea feces and loose fur. It is a weighted comb, that must feel good, because our cat enjoys getting combed by it daily and is feeling much better.

Really nice tool for fighting fleas
Got this to help combat mysterious fleas on my indoor/outdoor cat that spot meds, vacuuming, bombing and laundering weren't entirely eliminating-- perfect! Leaves his coat smooth and shiny. I just watch for his scratches, then comb there and it gets 'em everytime! Hint: after using, dip the comb in warm, soapy water to drown the fleas. Pull the hair with the bugs and "dirt" into the water and leave them there. LOVE this tool!

Sturdy!
The comb is nice and sturdy feeling in your hand. It grabs the fleas really well, however it has a hollow shaft along the teeth and that makes picking the fleas off the comb a little difficult.

One would want to make sure that the fleas do not have a chance to crawl back onto your furry pal. Many customers place the fleas in a small sealable bag and dispose of that in the regular trash.

I know the manufacturer of this comb makes combs that have tapered pins with rounded tips which allows you to comb through and remove mats easier....not sure if that is what you mean by "sharp". As far as preventing mats you'll need to comb your cat on a regular basis as well..... at intervals based on the length of fur, activity, etc. Hope that helps.
