I have a dog who cannot eat tablets and I was unable to break them up by hand. This pill cutter works fine if you do not need to precisely cut a pill. It breaks the Cosequin tablet in several pieces that I can sprinkle on his food and he has no difficulty. This works for us but if you need to precisely cut a prescription pill this may not be the best choice.

I should have heeded the reviews! I added it to my cart on a petmeds checkout without reviewing, and I regret it! This thing doesn't stay snapped in to its hinges EVER. Every single time I use it I have to piece it back together. Honestly, the scissors I keep in the drawer are faster and easier. There are good pill cutters out there, but this isn't it. Even breaking pills apart in my hands is easier than using this piece of junk. At least it was cheap. Save yourself some irritation and buy a better one somewhere else.

The pill cutter I have I bought at Wally for $2. Its served me great for years but it’s losing its edge finally. They are always out so I thought I’d try this one. Wish i hadn’t! It’s a good size and sharp but it’s only good if it doesn’t matter how the pills are cut. The little hands that are supposed to hold the pill don’t because they’re plastic, not rubber that grips like most others. Also, it has a ridge that points up and that also makes the pill impossible to cut straight down the middle on any pill that’s now good sized and round. I’ve got a football one and an oval that has to be cut in four. Easier to use a knife. :( Could have bought 4 (better ones) for the price of one.

I bought this as y previous cutter at bought in store lasted over 5 years. I ordered this one and it will not cut a pill in half, all it does it cut an edge off no matter where I put the pills. I do not know how it got 5 stars!

Excellent pill cutter, sharp and precise cuts with no “crushing.” Will definitely buy another one!!
