PETMED EXPRESS, INC. D/B/A 1-800-PETMEDS ANNOUNCES RECORD FINANCIAL RESULTS FOR FISCAL 2010
Mendo Akdag, CEO and President, commented: “We are pleased with our financial performance for the year, which was highlighted by the growth of our internet sales and net income. The results can be attributed to our reorder growth and our success in leveraging our operating expenses. Our internet sales increased by 14% to $162.8 million for the year, compared to $143.3 million for the prior year, with approximately 68% of our orders being generated from our website during the year, compared to 65% in the prior year. For the fiscal year, the Company leveraged its operating expenses as a percent of sales by 176 basis points as compared to the same period in the prior year. In August 2009, the Company announced its first ever quarterly dividend, and has paid approximately $6.8 million in the last three quarters, illustrating our commitment to returning capital to our shareholders. Our focus in fiscal 2011 is conversion optimization, and the expansion of our product offerings into pet supplies.â€
