How does Seresto for Large Dogs work?

Seresto Large Dog collars make your dog’s comfort a priority by killing fleas and ticks on contact, so pests don’t have to bite your dog to die. Existing fleas die within 24 hours after initial application of the collar. After 24 hours, any new fleas on the dog are killed within 2 hours with protection against further flea infestation lasting 8 months. The prevention of infestations with new ticks starts at 48 hours after application of the collar. 48 hours after application, any new ticks are repelled and/or killed in as quickly as 6 hours. Seresto Large Dog collars protect against common pests like deer ticks, American dog ticks, brown dog ticks, and Lone Star ticks; they’re also effective against chewing lice. Fleas and ticks not only cause discomfort; fleas can transmit bartonellosis or tapeworm. Ticks can transmit Borrelia burgdorferi which causes Lyme Disease. Check the product label for information on potential side effects.

Cautions:

The collar should not be used on puppies younger than seven weeks old or on kittens younger than ten weeks old. If ticks are present on your pet when the collar is applied, they will not die within the first forty-eight hours and should be removed manually. If your dog or cat shows any sign of skin irritation or other reaction to the collar, remove immediately and consult your veterinarian.

Do not allow children to play with collar or reflectors, or to put them in their mouths. Avoid contact with eyes, skin or clothing. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after fitting the collar. People with sensitivity reactions to the ingredients of the collar should avoid contact with the collar. Choking hazard. Contains small parts. Do not place reflectors in mouth. Not intended for use on humans.

Storage:

Store in a cool, dry place away from children.

About Interceptor Plus Prevention for Heartworm + 4 Other Worms for Dogs

What is Interceptor Plus (milbemycin oxime/praziquantel)?

If your dog is only protected from heartworm disease, there’s a gap in their coverage. Close the gap with Interceptor Plus. Interceptor Plus also treats and controls four other major worms including adult roundworm, hookworm, whipworm and tapeworm infections in dogs and puppies. That’s protection against more types of worms than Heartgard Plus. Unlike Interceptor Plus, both Heartgard Plus (ivermectin/pyrantel) and Simparica Trio (sarolaner, moxidectin, and pyrantel chewable tablets) do not cover tapeworm or whipworm.*

When untreated, intestinal worms can cause discomfort and fatigue with diarrhea, weight loss, anemia and more. That’s why Interceptor Plus makes dosing easy and convenient with 5-in-1 protection in a tasty, chicken-flavored chew. No need to hide pills in food-pockets. This chewable heartworm prevention goes down easy and keeps the protection going strong for a month.

Interceptor Plus heartworm prevention is only available by prescription. Dogs must be at least six weeks old and weigh 2.0 - 8.0 lbs. to use this dose of Interceptor Plus.

Never miss a monthly treatment when you subscribe to convenient, regular doorstep deliveries of 1-dose, 6-dose or 12-dose packs. Before starting any heartworm prevention program, it’s important for your veterinarian to test your dog for an existing heartworm infection. At your next visit, tell your veterinarian you want PLUS-level protection for your loyal pup so you can enjoy peace of mind in all of their favorite places – from the backyard to the dog park.

*Heartgard Plus protects against heartworm disease, hookworms (A. caninum, U. stenocephala, A. braziliense), and roundworms. Simparica TRIO protects against heartworm disease, hookworms (A. caninum, U. stenocephala), and roundworms.

NOTE: To protect your dog from flea and ticks, try Credelio.

Summary of Reviews

This summary is generated by artificial intelligence based on customer reviews
The product is generally effective at preventing flea and tick infestations for an extended period, with many users reporting successful protection for several months. It is praised for its convenience, as it can be left on the animal for up to 8 months without needing to be reapplied. The product is also water-resistant and does not leave a strong odor or residue. However, a small number of users have experienced issues such as the animal chewing through the collar or having an adverse reaction, so close monitoring is recommended.

Wonderful way to protect from fleas and ticks
We really love Seresto collars! They repel fleas and ticks, keeping them off my fur babies! Love that I don’t have to take them off for bathing either.

Too easily destroyed for the cost
Bought these Soresto collars for my 2 puppies, who are 4 months old. Within the first day the female pup chewed the strap of the collar off so it can never be adjusted for growth now. For a $65-75 collar, it should not be made so soft for a puppy to chew through. Now I have to figure something else out.

No messy liquid on my furniture
Both my dogs are indoor dogs. They rule the a well maintained backyard that’s periodically sprayed for pests. The onky time that they do puck up a flea is when they get walked around the park. The Seresto collars work well to keep fleas off them. I don’t like putting medicine on their neck because they love sleeping upside down on the bed and couch.

Summary of Reviews

This summary is generated by artificial intelligence based on customer reviews
The reviews for this product indicate mixed experiences. Many customers report the medication is effective at preventing heartworms and other parasites, with no side effects. However, some dogs refused to take the medication or experienced adverse reactions like vomiting, seizures, and lethargy. While the product may work well for some dogs, pet owners should monitor their individual dog's response, as the medication does not seem to be equally effective for all.

Keeping them safe
PetMeds always have great customer service first of all. With the Interceptor Plus I know my two are always kept safe from heartworms and other parasitic worms, We live in the tropics, so we need to be cautious. PetMeds always ships so quickly, we are very impressed with their customer service. Have been ordering from them for years.

Poor customer service
I ordered 2 packsofInceptor Plus. Only 1 arrived. I waited a couple days but the other never arrived. When I called customer service, I waited 40 minutes and no one ever answered. I waited another day and called again. After 20 minutes without a person to talk to, I hung up. I left a message on the site and never heard back. I will not be dealing with PetMed again.

We’ve only given our Bordiodle one dose. Split it in 1/2. She was very lethargic for the first 1/2 and had diarrhea the next day. I don’t know if this is the right meds for her. Also, I was supposed to get 35% off 1st order and was charged full price.

Unacceptable customer service
Unacceptable customer service with whole times over an hour. Left my phone number to get a call back and never got a call back. When I finally got through to order, the order was incorrect. Customer service has declined rapidly and prices have increased dramatically. I will likely be looking for another provider.

Petmeds were great…
… a true bright spot in a pretty lousy order ordeal. You would think an online order is no big deal. Mine sucked. First, my vet woul not give electronic approval for the heart guard, so I had to call them and make an appointment to get a written prescription. Once I got that , I had to mail it to Petmeds pharmacy. Then it was shipped via USPS. From Florida, my little package went to NY, then across the country to Colorado. Then finally back to where I live. Total time- one month.
