How does FURminator Undercoat deShedding Tool for Short Hair Cats work?

FURminator Undercoat deShedding Tool for Short Hair Cats Directions:

  • It is recommended that you use the FURminator Undercoat deShedding Tool 1-2 times a week for 10-20 minutes each session. You may need to use the deShedding Tool more frequently during heavy shedding seasons.
  • Before each use, you will want to read the deShedding Tool instructions completely.
  • Your dog or cat should be free of mats and tangles before you begin.
  • You should use the FURminator Undercoat deShedding Tool in the direction of hair growth, typically starting at the base of the neck and brushing to the tail.
  • It is important to use the deShedding Tool methodically over the entire pet, avoiding one area for an extended period of time.
  • The ears and tail are typically sensitive areas for most pets, so extra caution will need to be taken when brushing these areas. Since the ears and tail typically mat easily, we advise to check for and remove mats and tangles before using the deShedding Tool.
  • With regular use, you should see a reduction in the amount of mats and tangles that form in the ears and tail because you are removing the undercoat that gets caught in the topcoat causing mats to form.
Tip:

Unlike brushing and combing, deShedding is done to remove the loose, dead undercoat from the pet without cutting or damaging the topcoat when used as directed. Undercoat deshedding reduces the shed hair in all pets and also can help reduce hairball formation in cats.

How do I take care of undercoat deShedding tools?

  • Brush your pet before using the undercoat deShedding tool to remove any mats or tangles. Using the tool on matted or tangled fur can bend or break the teeth, as well as feel uncomfortable for the pet.
  • Be careful not to drop or place the undercoat deShedding tool where it can fall, as it may result in damage to the tool’s teeth
  • The deShedding edge can be cleaned with warm water and a mild soap if necessary. Cleaning can reduce the feeling of a dull edge by reducing dander collection on the teeth of the deShedding edge. Dry the undercoat deShedding tool completely before storing.
  • The FURminator undercoat deShedding tool has an Edge Guard around the deShedding edge, so the tool does not require a cap when stored. Simply press down the FURejector® button and pull towards you to lock the Edge Guard into place, protecting the deShedding edge.

Good
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the FURminator and found it to be mostly effective. I couldn't get much hair out of the brush part when I pushed the release but I also couldn't get much hair from my cat.

My cats and I love this brush
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This brush is great at its job. Removed lots of fur from the undercoat, just in time for warmer weather. It seems durable and is compact. Most importantly, my cats like it and it seems comfortable for them, not causing any pain even when I brush “hard”.

Can’t wait to keep using this brush for my cat!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a British Shorthair who has a very dense coat so I was a little skeptical because of the size of the brush but I was pleasantly surprised when brushing her. She seemed to like it and it got out a pretty decent amount of undercoat in a short amount of time! The only downside is that it is a little sharp so you have to be careful not to brush to hard or snag any skin or you could cut the cat.

Nice for cats
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like this tool. I have three cats, two with shorter hair and one with longer. It work for all of them! I think they like it and it is effective and comfortable to hold in my hand. The price point it fair and it seems durable. Recommend!

Good
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the grooming tool instead of the shampoo. The grooming tool has been great in removing excess fur from my babies. It’s a quick way to do it that doesn’t leave fur balls everywhere

Works great for lots of fur textures
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have two short haired cats, but their fur couldn’t be more different in terms of texture. This brush works great for both of them and has come in so handy during this shedding season. Even better both cats seem to actually enjoy being brushed, a rarity for sure. The brush itself has a nice weight to it and seems like it will hold up for a while. I received it in exchange for a review and I’m so glad I did. I would definitely recommend it.

Heavy Duty
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like this comb. My cat has short/almost medium hair and especially since it’s winter and trying to get warmer, he’s shedding a lot. He hasn’t thrown up any hairballs since I use this weekly and another light comb daily. This feels very heavy duty. The only thing I don’t like is that the mechanism to push the hair forward out of the comb teeth is awkward. Pushing it in is fine, but you have to push it up to get it back into place and it jumps back and can kind of get you if you aren’t careful. Otherwise it’s great.

Gets rid of undercoat
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My cat is not a fan of being brushed, but she tolerated the Furminator Undercoat deShedding Tool. A lot of undercoat fur got picked up when using it. If your cat needs a good brushing, this is the right tool for you.
