My pup would not eat this. Kimble was pretty big and considering kidney challenge dogs are older and may also have issues with teeth, should make kibble easier to chew???

A lifesaver for us
I first got this product when Tiggy, my then-12-year-old Pom, was recovering from renal failure and starting to eat on her own again. I chose it over competing brands based on the ingredients & the fact that other picky pups seemed to like it. Chicken as a primary ingredient was a big plus! Tiggy took to it right away and eats it more enthusiastically than her previous kibble. While the main goal was stabilizing her kidney values, we've also seen improvements in her overall health--especially digestion!--since starting this product. Now, at 14, she's still thriving & scarfing down her bowl!

My dog is on kidney meds and needs this food and has done very well on it. The other foods the vet recommended were not near the quality that this one is. Thank you Blue!

my dog took a bit of time tomtake to it, but niw eats it well. Seems ti have clean ingredients with real chicken and rice. Lower protein should help with our dogs BUN.

BB KS is now grain inclusive.
We started using this in Oct 2020 when we got bad news about our 9 yr old's kidneys. Our vet said we had to pick out kidney foods for her & I had told him we didn't want to feed her chemicals. He told us to do some research & pick what we could "live with". We had been using the grain free version up until last Nov when I was told by an online retailer that it was discontinued. Being so confused as to WHY, I was able to find it on my vet's pharmacy site & to my surprise (!!!) it is now grain inclusive, thats even better.! She loves it & her bloodwork shows huge improvement since those early days when she was in kidney failure & we thought we would loose her.. She will be 12 in June & aside from a slight kidney issue, she is doing fabulous! Dear Blue Buffalo, you need to update your description to show that the new version is grain inclusive. I highly recommend this all natural product! She has been so successful on this product, we think her photo should be on the bag!

The only RX diet with no bad ingredients
Both my senior dogs, one Rottie 8 yoa, and one Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix 14 yoa, had high kidney values after being diagnosed with lyme disease, as a retired vet tech, I refuse to feed my dogs any food with corn, wheat, soy, by-products, artificial flavors or dye.
When they needed a prescription food, I researched All the top name brands and was irritated by how many bad ingredients they had, including cheap sorghum as a source of protein.
.My vet made the comment that it might be hard to find a RX diet my dogs would eat and after researching, I see why. One actually had no animal protein at all.
Blue Buffalo is the Only food, that has none of the bad ingredients and everything good Deboned chicken is the first ingredient and no mystery animal "meal" or by-products.
My dogs absolutely love this food and their kidney values are all back to normal.
Blue Buffalo is the only food my dogs and cats eat.
Remember to always switch to a new food slowly, following the directions on the bag, this will keep from causing any digestive upset.

Great food
My 14 year old dog needed a prescription diet for her kidney disease. She loves this dry food as well as the prescription wet food. After being on this diet for a month her first blood test was so improved the vet said keep it up. She was on a regular Blue Buffalo diet before going on the KS. If you need a grain just add cooked white rice.
