Learn about fleas

Learn about fleas

Fleas are the most common external parasite found on dogs. Once fleas have infested a host, they begin feeding on your dog's blood almost immediately and can cause itchy, painful skin conditions.

Female fleas begin laying eggs about 24 hours after feeding begins. These eggs will fall off and land in the dog's environment. The eggs eventually become adult fleas that are ready to find a new host and begin the lifecycle all over again.

Ending infestations is a long and difficult process. But preventing them can be done easily in one beef-flavored dose. One chew a month will kill adult fleas before they have a chance to reproduce.

What are the signs of ticks on dogs?

When looking for ticks, you may feel or spot them on your dog’s body underneath their fur. When it first attaches, an adult tick will look like a tiny round bug with eight legs. After feeding, it will swell to look bloated and bluish gray — and it will eventually detach.

NexGard® PLUS (afoxolaner, moxidectin, and pyrantel chewable tablets) kill ticks quickly, all month long. It’s powerful protection in one beef-flavored dose.

What are the signs of ticks on dogs?
Heartworms in dogs

Heartworms in dogs

Heartworms are a type of parasitic worm transmitted by mosquitoes. Heartworm disease has been reported in all 50 states, and all dogs are at risk for the disease.6

A single bite from an infected mosquito is all it takes to give your dog heartworm disease.

NexGard® PLUS chews protect your dog from this harmful parasite.

Roundworms and hookworms in dogs

Roundworms are parasitic worms that can infect dogs in all stages of life. Adult roundworms live in the small intestine and feed off partially digested food and infections are very common in puppies.

Hookworms are thin, microscopic worms that attach to your dog’s intestinal wall and feed off his blood.

NexGard® PLUS chews effectively treat and control roundworms and hookworms.

PetMeds is like a friend you can always lean on.
My dog does not like the taste so I smuggle it in sardine oil or other foods she likes and as for 1800petmeds, what an amazing company, they answer the phone, they care and they help. Does not matter if I missed the date or my Vet messes up the order the will help, they will ship overnight, they will do above and beyond to get my fur baby the meds she needs. I cannot speak more highly of them. They say "they are here to help" and they really mean it. and that has not changed for more than 10 years.

Nextguard plus
My dog hated the taste. She is not a picky eater, but she absolutely hated this medicine. She spit it out and shivered. Nextguard blew it with this one. The regular nextguard and heartguard were flavored perfectly. Obviously not this one. I will see if I can exchange it for the regular ones. She has never done this before.

Annoying
I'm glad I finally got the meds, but being told by you guys that my vet didn't approve the 6 pack of Nexguard plus, then when I call my vet they say they haven't even heard from you guys. Then you guys tell me they only approve the 3 pack because my dog has an appointment coming up soon, when she clearly does not. Other times it's been great but for some reason this time I got the run around. But like I said earlier I finally did get my order. Thank You

My buddy hates these
For 9 years my buddy Onyx had the two separate meds and ate them with no problem by themselves - actually liked them! I then switched to the plus last year thinking it would be easier for me to have just one monthly med to give. He absolutely refuses to eat these all-in-one meds! I could wrap it in salmon in five small pieces, and he will still hunt and spit out all of this product. I am going back to the two meds to save a lot of headaches and a lot of cleanups trying to get him to eat these! So be warned, your best buddy may not go for these new single Heart Gard plus tablets.

Chihuahua will not eat these
One of our Chi guys will eat his, but the other absolutely will not and spits it right out. Been smashing it up good and hiding in his food to get it in him. Not the best solution but I guess...

Easy to sneak into food!
I have a smart, adorable, sometimes sassy, picky-eating 8-y/o Shih Tzu who is very difficult to give supplements or meds to. Nexgard + has made this much easier. Not only is it smaller and easier than giving the Heartgard and Nexgard separately, it also hides well in food. My pup takes it without a problem. Very happy they made a monthly combo preventative / protective supplement!
