Great food, even for my cat with a chicken allergy
Both my cats love this food. One of them is actually allergic to chicken and gets terrible diarrhea from any food with chicken, so we have to have him on single-ingredient diets. But since this kibble has the chicken fat removed, the vet said it would be okay to try. He had some bathroom issues for the first few days but then his digestion normalized, and now he can eat this daily without an issue. It does seem to keep their teeth very clean, so we're hoping it'll help us avoid some costly vet bills!

I am not sure about this product. It is not grain free and has chicken by product not chicken. It is very expensive.

Kibble is way too large for a cat!
My vet recommended this product and we have used Hill's urinary cat kibble for years with no issues. My cats love it and the size is small and perfect for a cat's teeth. However, when this bag came and I opened it up and saw how large the kibble was, I thought I had been accidentally sent the dog version! But, no, it's the cat on the bag. My cats will not touch it and look at me with disgust. I've tried for weeks. I am returning it and asking my vet for an alternative. I'm very disappointed in this Hill's product.

Vet recommended
I am a vet and I own 5 cats. I recommend this to ALL owners of cats. It is 270 cal/cup so is considered very low in calories (most cat foods are 400-600 cal/cup) and my cats LOVE it. There is no wrong reason to feed this to your cats unless they have medical conditions!!

Good product, poor quality control
My cat has been eating t/d dental for several years based on vets recommendation. He loves it! Dental exams are good. Unfortunately the quality control of this product is very inconsistant. Just open the bag and you can see the differance between one and the other. Sometimes the color is diiferent, sometimes there is a coating on the food that is not there usually. As you might guess, my cat will not eat these odd looking and often odd smelling batches. If I buy another bag and the fool looks like it usually does my can is thrilled to have his regular food back. It's a bit expensive to be throwing out and replacing a bag of food because the quality and consistancy is off. Honestly I feel a refund is due from Hills. As much as my cat loves this food, it's hard to recommend based on the inconsistant quality.

Why all the grains!?
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My vet recommended Hill's Dental Care for my 12-year old cat whose gums were slightly inflamed. I thought that I would try the food prior to cleaning to see if there was improvement. Can't say for sure because being a cat, trying to examine the mouth is quite a chore. Today, I bought a new bag and while I was waiting in line I took a look at the ingredients. I was shocked! The first ingredient was Chicken By-product Meal. Okay, at least it is some form of chicken. Next, Brewers Rice and then Corn Gluten Meal. I can't even get my cats to eat corn that has butter on it - that tells me enough there. Never tried rice but I have a feeling they would just walk away. I am immediately cutting back on the amount of this 'junk' that I am feeding my cats. The cleaning is upcoming and hopefully, I will be able to scale back even more on the amount fed. Can't Hills Prescription Diet do better? Will you do better?

Delicious choice for healthy teeth!
My cat is 5 years old now and he has been eating this as his main food since he finished kitten food. His teeth are beautiful - whiter than mine! He loves it so much the kibble can be used as treats as others have said. He seems very healthy all around and will probably keep eating this his whole life.

Doesn't work for my cats
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Both my cats have Feline Stomatitis and have been on this food since they were about 6 months old. Now at 6 years old they both have major dental issues and one of my cats just had calcium oxalate stones removed. The food claims to help prevent tartar and stones. Unfortunately it's done nothing for my cat family and we will now be switching food after 6 years.
