- Feeding for Adult Maintenance:
- It is important that you feed Pro Plan to your adult cat “free choice” throughout the day, rather than as just a single feeding only at mealtime. Food intake required to maintain ideal body condition will vary, depending on age, activity and environment. Watch your cat’s weight and adjust food amounts accordingly.
- If you have a kitten, or a pregnant or nursing cat, you should continue feeding an appropriate Pro Plan kitten formula.
- Making the Switch to Pro Plan:
- Although you’ll be anxious to see the difference Pro Plan can make in your cat, please allow 7 - 10 days to ease the transition from your cat’s current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you’re feeding Pro Plan exclusively.
- This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets.
Tip:
Use a standard 8 oz measuring cup when feeding Pro Plan.

Favorite dry food of 6 different ones
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 2 cats like this dry food, more than 6 other ones that I have in front of them. The bowl is cleaned out everyday versus their fussy cat, Fancy feast, 2 different types of Purina. Beyond as well as the local grocery store brands.

Feb/Mar 2026 BAD batch causing illness
This food is normally great and my cats have been on it for over a year with no issues, but now I've gotten 2 bags that expire Feb/March 2026 (I believe March 2026, but I have to throw away the bags to put them in airtight containers since these bags don't seal) that have made my cats have diarrhea and avoid eating it (one entirely wasn't eating it for days but was eating treats, then once she started eating the bad bag, she started having diarrhea too). They were fine before the first bag and and had a month in between the first and second bag with this expiration date when they were on a bag expiring another month - no issues when they were off the bad bags. But 3 days after opening the new bag with the same Feb/March 2026 expiration, the cats weren't wanting to eat this and starting to have diarrhea again. I opened another bag, expiring May 2026, and again, they were fine again. The Feb/Mar 2026 expiration bags have a different color, appearance (seem slightly drier), and smell. I purchased these bad bags from 2 different retailers at different times (the second being a replacement bag since I was running out of food after having to go through the other bag so quickly). This has been reported to Purina. I'm sharing here in case your cats have had the same issues from bags expiring these dates.

Great new product
