About this product

What is Drontal for Cats?

Drontal is a broad-spectrum dewormer for cats and kittens to treat tapeworms, hookworms, and roundworms. Drontal is sold per tablet.

For:

Cats (weighing more than 1.5 lbs and over 1 month old)

Benefits:

  • Proven to eradicate the most common intestinal parasites
  • An easy single-dose administration. Each tablet is scored for easy breakage.
  • Can be given directly by mouth or in a small amount of food
  • Side effects occur rarely

How does Drontal for Cats work?

Drontal's active ingredients are praziquantel and pyrantel pamoate. Praziquantel works by damaging the parasite's skin internally, so the parasite disintegrates and is removed by the pet's immune system. Pyrantel pamoate is active against hookworms and ascarids and acts as a blocking agent, causing paralysis. This results in the hookworm losing its grip in the intestinal wall and is removed from the pet's system by natural process.

Cautions:

Side effects are rare, but may include loss of appetite, increased salivation, vomiting and diarrhea. Other side effects may also occur. Talk to your veterinarian about any side effect that seems unusual or bothersome to your pet. Drontal tablets are not for use in kittens less than one month old or weighing less than 1.5 pounds.

Brand Name:

Drontal (Bayer)

Generic Name:

Praziquantel and pyrantel pamoate (pra-zee-kwan'-tell)

Excellent!
I had to contact my son who was going to be a vet as to how to give 1/2 pill to my kittens. He is one who told me to get this med action and I appreciate that you sell it! I tried crushing and putting in soft food but they would not eat it. He suggested pulverizing it and giving in water with a syringe. worked!! Thank you for making it available but you may want to give suggestions as to how to give it. Thank you.

More than happy with this medication!
My cat had tapeworm so I went straight to Google. I spent a few days researching which medicine to try, this happened to be what was frequently recommended. I looked for the medication and it was cheapest here at PetMeds.com so I ordered it. The whole process was smooth and it actually came in a few days early! We gave my cat the pill and waited. The very next day I noticed she was eating more and more active. It's bow been 6 days since she's been medicated and she presents as a whole new cat! 10 out of 10 recommended the product, and the supplier.

My cat thanks you
I did my research and discovered what I needed for my cat. Permeds had what I needed at a. dissent price. I ordered and received package 2 days earlier than expected. Thank you Petmeds. I shared my experience with a coworker and they wanted Petmeds info, cause they have a small dog that might need something.
