Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy and effective This topical solution was easy to apply to my cat. I saw results in two days. No reinfestation and it’s been a week. I had tried liquid dewormers (mixing it with food) and after a couple bits my cat completely abandons the wet food (her fav). So I recommend the pro fender.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cat had reaction I took my cat to the vet to be treated for tapeworms. I told them I couldn’t get the cat to take pills, and they decided to apply the topical pro fender. It seemed like an easy solution. I regret having done this. The cat started scratching the area between her shoulders at the base of her head where it was applied. She scratched a huge hairless spot, and over the course of several days of scratching it turned into a huge open sore which she kept scratching for several more days. It’s been a few weeks and she still hasn’t grown hair back on the long spot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This stuff works Originally got this for my cat through my vet for a tape worm. Exactly 12 hours after it was administered to the back of her neck (very easy to do) her tape worm came out in a bowel movement in full - 8 inches and she's a petit 8 lb cat. The cat is indoor/outdoor and she's been hunting lately and has another one so my vet gave me another dose. I would recommend this to anyone. Only downside is the neck application sticks around longer than a topical flea/tick treatment. When I apply frontline the spot is usually gone and dry in 24 hours. The profender lingers and is sticky for a few days. Glad to know this is available on the site so I can order it next time and save the visit

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't work for one of my cats. I used this product on two of my adult cats. For one of them, a single dose was sufficient. For the other one, I have given two doses and she still has active tapeworms. I am discouraged, and probably wouldn't want to use this again. It has been very stressful. I have vacuumed every day, was her her bedding every day, washed water and food bowls every day, and cleaned the cat box every day, changing the litter once weekly. After 9 days, both times I gave her the profender, the live segments started re-appearing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad Reactions Given to my 10 year old male short-haired domestic cat. Wish I hadn't. Number of reactions including excessive salivation, irritation at site, abnormal behaviors. Won't use again. Ever.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I don't know if it worked...but the application... ...is bad enough. Cats take their paws and wipe their backs, necks, head....so I have no idea how they're not ingesting this stuff. And I don't know how it got on the skin, it seems most is stuck inside the fur. I HATE these liquid neck products!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! I used Profender on 3 kittens that I acquired recently and one of them passed a ginormous dead tapeworm, but it was about a week after administration. I suppose it takes a little time, but don't give up because it DOES work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to apply and effective Been buying this every year to treat my short hair cat's occasional tapeworm infestation. Easy to apply, no side effect other than some discolored hairs on the area of application. Very effective. Within 48 hours the tapeworm infestation is gone. It has worked consistently every time I have used it. I don't understand the bad reviews on this site.

How should Profender Cat Dewormer be used?

Profender Cat Dewormer is applied topically to the skin. It is not given by mouth. Do not apply to broken skin or if the hair coat is wet. Follow the manufacturer's directions for application. Side effects that may occur include licking/excessive grooming, scratching at treatment site, salivation, lethargy, alopecia (loss of hair), agitation/nervousness, vomiting, diarrhea, eye irritation, respiratory irritation, and shaking/tremors.
