Questions

Have script for Hydroxyzine 10mg tablets to be split in half, given twice daily to my cat. Which would be the proper liquid form you have to order, cat takes liquid better. Once I know I will order the liquid form from you w/my vet info.

Asked by: The Claw
Yes, the 25mg/ml liquid would be best for you cat if they are normally receiving 5mg twice daily. You would give 0.2ml via a syringe to your cat twice daily to get the same dose. Hope this helps.

I just submitted Hydroxine question regarding liquid form, I now see that the Transdermal form is cheaper and my cat would take it even better than liquid or pills...would it include proper dosage instructions, to give proper dosage?

Asked by: TheClaw
The price you see for transdermal hydroxyzine is just for a 1ml patch which would not work with your pet and their dosage. If you are wanting the liquid form, and your pet gets 5mg twice a day normally, then the 25mg/ml bottle will work and you would give 0.2ml of that liquid to get the same dose. These bottles come in 15ml, 30ml, or 60ml sizes, depending on how much you want to have on hand. Your Vet can also help with dosing the liquid if you have any other questions. Hope this helps.

What is a Compounded Medication?

A compounded medication is the creation of a particular medication to fit the unique needs of a patient, including changing the form of the medication (e.g., from a solid pill to a liquid) for a variety reasons (e.g., to make it easier to take, to avoid a non-essential ingredient, to obtain the exact dose needed, adding favorite flavors).

We can prepare the following: (1) custom strength quantities of a medication (as capsules, liquid, chewable tablets, or transdermal (absorbed through the skin); (2) dosage forms to mask bitter or unpleasant taste (such as capsules or chewable tablets that can also be flavored); (3) dosage forms to make it easier to dose your pet such as a transdermal or liquid (that can also be flavored); and (4) discontinued products such as cisapride or DES.
