Cats and Dogs

  • Effectively treats gum inflammation and bleeding
  • No reported side effects

How does C. E. T. 0.12% Chlorhexidine Rinse work?

Chlorhexidine Gluconate is an antiseptic used in mouth rinses to aid in reducing inflammation and bleeding of the gums.

When gingival inflammation and bleeding subside, C.E.T. 0.12% Chlorhexidine Rinse should be discontinued and a regular home dental care program of brushing with pet toothpaste should begin. Reversible teeth staining has been reported with prolonged use of this product. Keep out of the eyes and ears. This product is for veterinary use only. In the event of an overdose, contact your veterinarian or veterinary emergency room.

Dogs/Cats: (Using an applicator)
All weights
For best results, use an applicator such as a soft-bristled toothbrush. Place a small amount of the rinse in a container. Gently hold your pet's head and dip the toothbrush or other applicator in the rinse. Carefully brush your pet's teeth in a gentle, circular motion. Re-moisten the applicator as needed.
Dogs/Cats: (Without using an applicator)
All weights
When used as a rinse without an applicator, place the spout inside the corner of the mouth, slightly inside the cheek. Gently squeeze the bottle to place a small amount of the rinse between the cheek and gums. Massage the mouth to work the rinse over the teeth. Repeat this procedure on the other side of the mouth.

C.E.T. 0.12% Chlorhexidine Rinse is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tastes horrible I tasted this product before giving it to my cat - it is horribly bitter and very astringent so I know there is no way he will take it. Guess it is hard to mask the flavor of the active ingredient - but the mint flavor makes it worse.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Must Taste Terrible I have brushed my Dane's teeth since he was young with an Oral-B electric toothbrush and CET poultry-flavor toothpaste, and he has never hesitated to come when I call him for his nightly brushing. This all changed after using the CET chlorhexidine rinse just two nights. When I called him on the third night to get his teeth brushed, he hurried downstairs with his tail tucked. Wouldn't you know, I bought two bottles!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from stress free dental care The C.E.T. rinse is the best product for my Yorkie's (Kieran)dental care. It is easy to use and keeps his teeth clean and the whitest I've seen in years. Great product at the best price in the market.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than ordinary This is the product that I began using 10, to 20 years ago. It looks different now, and may have had another name, but the ingredients were the same. Back then, as now, it was a Vet that recomended it, and every Vet I've had since is recomending it. It's the zinc. That's what my first Vet liked about it. It's even better if you soak a tooth brush in it, and then brush your dogs teeth. Won't remove any plaque your dog already has, but like people, it will pervent a lot of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from C. E. T. 0.12% Chlorhexidine Rinse My kitty, Billy, had a stroke with left him with limited use of his rear left leg and with incontenance. I use this product to clean him after he pees/moves his bowels. Although he's prone to urinary tract infection, this product helps me keep him healthier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Purchase I have found that this product does help my dogs breath and general mouth wellness - I brush my dogs teeth every night and then put a drop or so on the toothbrush and brush in mouth again

is this the same formula as what dentists use on humans?

Asked by: dogluvr
The human oral rinse has the same active ingredient - chlorhexidine gluconate 0.12%. I'm not sure about about the flavorings, etc.

Is this the same formula as what I get from my vet?

In addition to the .12% Chlorhexidine gluconate, the ingredients on what I have list .05% Cetylpyridinium Chloride and zinc in a soothing alcohol free vehicle. You list other ingredients......
Asked by: jmpb49
This is NOT the Oral Hygiene Rinse, which is what you are calling it on your "product information" section! The Oral Hygiene Rinse is meant for home care, and the Chlorhexidine Rinse is NOT recommended for home care!

It should not harm your cat is some is swallowed. I suggest you use an applicator such as a soft-bristled toothbrush. Place a small amount of the rinse in a container. Gently hold your pet's head and dip the toothbrush or other applicator in the rinse. Carefully brush your pet's teeth in a gentle, circular motion. Re-moisten the applicator as needed. If your dog has bleeding gums, then you should have your pet examined by a veterinarian. Bleeding gums are usually a sign of advanced gum disease.

our vet told us to purchase chlorhexidine shampoo for our dog.

Can we purchase C.E.T.O. 12% Chlorhexidine Rinse and just add it to an oatmeal shampoo? We are to use the chlorhexidine shampoo to treat some sores on his belly.
Asked by: mott2
Hello Mott2, We hope you and your pet are doing well today. Unfortunately you can use the C.E.T.Chlorhexidine Rinse topically. Nor can you mixe it in with a shampoo. It will not be effective. You can bathe your pet in a mild Oatmeal shampoo. Then you can use the Nolvasan Skin & Wound Cleanser right after on the wounds. Please see link below for product details and benfits. We look forward to helping you and your pet again.
