FURminator deShedding Tool for Dogs Directions:

  • Before using the FURminator deShedding Tool for Dogs, inspect and remove any tangles and/or matting from your dog's coat with proper professional grooming tools.
  • Use on a clean, dry coat.
  • Always start from the head and move down the body, ensuring that the blade and teeth are angled toward the coat. Comb only in the direction the coat grows, and do not use on or around sensitive areas like ears, paws, legs, and genitals.
  • Gently and slowly glide the tool, using long, smooth strokes in the direction of hair growth. Keep the tool up and away from your dog's skin, touching only the coat. Do not use repeated strokes in the same area, and do not apply too much pressure on the tool as you comb, as doing so can irritate your dog's skin and cause discomfort. Dogs with sensitive skin may suffer brush burns even with light combing. If you notice any redness or irritation, stop using the tool immediately, and discontinue use until you've spoken with your veterinarian about your dog's skin reactions.
  • When you've finished grooming your dog, always remember to store the tool in a safe place, out of the reach of children.
Tip:

Unlike brushing and combing, deShedding is done to remove the loose, dead undercoat from the pet without cutting or damaging the topcoat when used as directed. Undercoat deshedding reduces the shed hair in all pets and also can help reduce hairball formation in cats.

How do I take care of undercoat deShedding tools?

  • Brush your pet before using the undercoat deShedding tool to remove any mats or tangles.  Using the tool on matted or tangled fur can bend or break the teeth, as well as feel uncomfortable for the pet.
  • Be careful not to drop or place the undercoat deShedding tool where it can fall, as it may result in damage to the tool’s teeth
  • The deShedding edge can be cleaned with warm water and a mild soap if necessary. Cleaning can reduce the feeling of a dull edge by reducing dander collection on the teeth of the deShedding edge. Dry the undercoat deShedding tool completely before storing.
  • The FURminator undercoat deShedding tool has an Edge Guard around the deShedding edge, so the tool does not require a cap when stored. Simply press down the FURejector® button and pull towards you to lock the Edge Guard into place, protecting the deShedding edge.

Pup approved!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This deshedding tool works great! It is easy to hold, doesn’t irritate my dog, and picks up a ton of hair! I’d highly recommend this tool as a gentle and effective shedding treatment. This review was part of an incentivized campaign.

Great Deshedding Tool
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this product. My mini Aussie sheds so much and this helps to keep my cleaning time down. I brush her and it removes any loose hair and she loves it.

Amazing
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product really got the undercoat out. The only this I will say, is that it really made a lot of loose hair. Like it didn’t keep it in a ball if that makes sense. Other than that, it was great! Really de shed the fur. Love it!

Groom sessions no longer require drinks afterwards
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was graciously given the opportunity to test out this product in return for my honest review. I have a 7-month old chihuahua dachshund she-devil who considers brushing attempts an actual act of war. The Furminator honestly is so effective that it’s made brush time super quick. Well, quicker than normal. It gets all of her loose fuzzies around her ears and pantaloons out quickly without tangling or snagging which is so important, nobody wants a snagged butt hair. The size is perfect for my 9-lb pup, it’s small enough that it’s only a minor threat, but it’s big enough that it’d actually effective. I love this so much I bought my mom one for her golden retrievers.

This product is a MUST… but only if you have a THI
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] HOLY HECK!!!! First off, just for clarity, I have a 2 year old 38 lb. Pomsky (Pomeranian Husky) who has the THICKEST double coat, but it is VERY shiny and soft because I brush him everyday, and always watch for when he has a blowout (LOTS of fur starts shedding all at once… takes about 3-5 days to fully blow out their coat.. My dog always looks about 10lbs lighter after one of his blowouts lol…) Anybody with a double coat dog knows what this is. I have to admit, when I first got this item, I was very skeptical to even touch it because of course I have heard the rumors to not use this product on your dog as it would cut up their outer fur layer… which if that happens, your dog may not be able to regulate their temperatures as well, they could get sick easier, etc etc… However, last year during one of my pomsky’s blowout, OMGGGGGG…. That entire week was HELL! It didn’t matter how long I would use the rake or the shedding brush… he just kept shedding and shedding and shedding…. It would never stop, and at the end of each grooming session during that week, the room and the bathroom and myself WERE JUST COVERED HEAVILY in fur. I felt like I was just brushing and brushing and brushing and not accomplishing ANYTHING! His blowout sessions were never THIS extravagant before! I even tried using the shedding shampoo, and still, felt like I had not accomplished very much… so when this came in, I did not use it right away… but then came another blowout…. AND AGAIN, felt like I was accomplishing nothing, my dog was getting VERY annoyed with how long it was taking and started avoiding me during the week he knew he was blowing out his fur… Something HAD TO CHANGE!! So I pulled the furminator out….. AND HOLY JEEZUS!!!!!! His loose blowout fur started coming out quickly and all at once!!!! Granted, it still took a little while that very first day to finish because MY BABY DOES HAVE A LOT OF FUR DURING HIS BLOWOUTS! However…. I noticed that it did not take an entire week of blowout grooming sessions after I started using the furminator… I wanna say maybe 3 DAYS IN, I didn’t have to pull out anymore loose fur??? He looked and felt like he had blown out all of his fur after only 3 days??? I reflected back, and realized the furminator did pull out allllll of the loose fur SOOO MUCH QUICKER and with less energy used than had I just used a rake brush….. THANK GOD!!!! Now his blowout sessions, sure they still have a GOD AWFUL a lot of fur that comes out initially…but it is no longer a week of hell and a week of just constant brushing brushing brushing without accomplishing anything, and only getting a full bathroom (and myself!) overfilled with his fur. It is now a max of 3 MAYBE 3 1/2 days of blowout for him, and then he is back to looking slimmer like he usually does after he blows out his fur, and then he has his shedding shampoo bath and then I am DONE until the next one in a few months!! LITERALLY, now between blow outs he BARELY sheds!!!! This product is actually VERY VERY HELPFUL, but ONLY if you have a THICK DOUBLE COATED DOG!!!!! I would never recommend this product to someone with normal fur (I also own a toy poodle/maltese who DOES NOT blow out any fur nor does she have a double coat… She just needs to be cut and groomed once a month or so…) NOR would I use it on a dog with a thinner double coat, one that doesn’t blow out or doesn’t shed as much…. If you try using this product on a dog who has a much thinner double coat, I wouldn’t be surprised if their outer coat gets cut up due to the bulk of their shedding not being great enough!!! This product is only for if your double coated dog has VERY THICK FUR, and sheds a lot throughout your house!!! I guarantee after you use this during their blowouts, your house/yard is going to be ALOT cleaner during the year in between blowouts, as well as the time & energy it takes to brush them will be SO MUCH LESS!! TLDR: Since I have started using the furminator, I swear that the ONLY TIMES my pomsky sheds, is during his blowout sessions that happen 3, no more than 4x a year!!! When he is not blowing out his coat, HIS SHEDDING HAS GONE DOWN TO A BARE MINIMUM!!!! I have noticed in my vacuum and cleaning products….. my house would normally always have a layer of fur… BUT NOW IT IS SO MUCH MORE CONTROLLED!!!! This product has seriously controlled the amount of fur my dog sheds, and also leaves him super smooth, soft, and gorgeous!!!!!! I have had other thick double coated dog owners completely surprised when they pet my dog and ask HOW IS THERE NOT A FIST OF FUR IN MY HAND??? All it takes is daily brushing, and using the furminator ONLY DURING THEIR BLOWOUTS!!!!!! And I PROMISE YOU… you will thank me when there is so much less fur shed all throughout your house/car/yard… and the time that your dog takes to blow out, will be MUCH LESS, and it will also take ALOT LESS TIME & ENERGY to brush them during their seasonal blowout grooming sessions!

Work good
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The de shedding tool works well for my dog. She has medium length hair ( we trim it for convenience care ). My dog doesn’t seems to care or scares of the tool which is good. It helps comb the hair that is still on after normal wash and regular comb off.

Great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great product. It helps get the hair without harming your dog. It gets down to the under layers of hair and it's so easy to use. Not harmful for animals.

Good quality
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far so good, it’s not shedding season so I haven’t used it in the optimal environment. It seems durable and good quality. My pup likes it, it’s just another brush to him. I like there’s a movable piece to protect the combs/metal teeth when not in use. Probably best to be used for heavy shedding time.
