It's given to pets to prevent the formation of blood clots in the bloodstream due to injuries. In addition to helping with blood clots due to injuries, Clopidogrel is used to prevent clotting in instances of feline cardiomyopathies, thrombosis, pulmonary hypertension, and other disorders that may increase the risk of clotting. Clopidogrel is available in a 75 mg tablet, requires a prescription from your veterinarian, and is sold per tablet.
Dogs and Cats
Clopidogrel prevents the formation of blood clots by inhibiting the formation of platelets, which are cells that respond to injury by clotting. Clopidogrel decreases the ability of platelets to stick together
Because of the prevention of blood clots, Clopidogrel increases the risk of bleeding in your pet as a result of the body not being able to clot efficiently. Monitor your pet's stool because black or tarry stool can indicate a bleed in the upper gastrointestinal tract.

clopidogrel
Clopidogrel requires a prescription from your veterinarian and is sold per tablet. Using Clopidogrel may increase the risk of bleeding in your pet due to the body not being able to form clots. Clopidogrel is available as 75 mg tablets.
Tell your veterinarian if your pet is hypersensitive to Clopidogrel. Let your veterinarian know of any other medications or supplements your pet is taking.
Administer Clopidogrel exactly as your veterinarian prescribes. Also, give Clopidogrel with food to avoid stomach upset. Do not stop giving your pet Clopidogrel without consulting your veterinarian.
Side effects of Clopidogrel may include an increased risk of bleeding, vomiting, and anorexia. However, potential side effects might be alleviated when given with food.
Give the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume the normal dosing schedule. Do not double up doses.
If you suspect an overdose, contact your veterinarian immediately.
Avoid giving to pets with a hypersensitivity to Clopidogrel. Do not give to pets with active bleeding disorders.
Using Clopidogrel with NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) increases the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding. Opioids will reduce the absorption of clopidogrel if used together. Concomitant use of omeprazole with Clopidogrel will significantly reduce the antiplatelet activity of Clopidogrel.
Wash your hands after giving your pet this medication.
