Acana Wholesome Grains Red Meat Dry Dog Food Directions:
- Just like you, your puppy or dog is a unique individual and their feeding requirements will vary with breed, environment, age and activity.
- Use the below feeding guide as a starting point, and monitor your puppy or dog’s weight, adjusting amounts as needed.
- Feed your pet twice daily and always keep fresh, clean water available.
- SMALL & MEDIUM PUPPIES: 1 1/2-3 Months: Feed 2x the Adult amount.
- 3-6 Months: Feed 1 1/2x the Adult amount.
- 6- 11 Months: Feed 1 1/4x the Adult amount.
- GESTATION: Increase the adult daily feeding amount by 25% to 50%
- LACTATION: Feed "free choice."
- See your veterinarian regularly.
Tip:
When switching diets, it’s important to transition your dog or puppy as it takes time for her digestive system to adapt to the richer nutrient levels in ACANA. Over a 5-7 day period, gradually mix in ACANA, increasing the amount each day so that by day 7 you are feeding 100% ACANA.

Beef with Wholesome Grains is a winner
It’s very difficult to find dog food that doesn’t have a main ingredient of chicken or turkey even when it supposedly is a beef or other advertised primary flavor that isn’t chicken. My border collie has had big issues in the beginning of her life (she’s now 9) with fever of unknown origin and though I was giving her human grade and limited ingredient Honest Kitchen for a while before I realized chicken causes inflammation. Unfortunately, the beef version of HK kibble is very hard to come by locally and online (with grains). Also, everything seems to be defaulting to grain free even though the vast majority of dogs do not need GF. My vet about lost it on me when I merely asked a question several years ago bc I’d the issues the GF diet can cause dogs. Anyway, all of this to say that finding Acana beef with grains has been a wonderful thing. It’s available locally and I’ve not experienced quite the supply chain issues as I did with HK beef kibble. The ingredients are great and the most important thing, my dogs eat it and they are healthy and happy!

Chicken allergy relief!
My pup can be super picky about her food which is really hard when she has a chicken allergy. We have been looking for the perfect food and finally have found it. I started feeding red mead and healthy grains about 6 months ago. My Aussiedoodle has chicken allergies and trid several foods before we found Acana. He no longer suffers from food related allergies, and he seems to love it.
