Rated 5 out of 5 by from FLORIDA 5-STAR DOG TRAINING I’ve been a Trainer over 30 years and I have only used Revolution on my Dogs. The new flea meds of the Isoxazoline class Including Bravecto, Nexguard, Credelio, Trifexis, and Simparica... are causing itching & abnormal behavioral problems I am noting in my Training client’s Dogs. I only recommend The Original Revolution! Approx 40 years of safe effective prevention. And it will save you money! No need for separate Heartworm prevention. And even works on the tough fungus we deal with in the South. Even cures sarcoptic mange! I receive nothing for recommending Revolution. But seeing the calm happy demeanor of my Training Dogs on Revolution is reward enough. ❤️

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best! I live in the middle of nowhere...so fleas and ticks are part of the deal...I used to use Frontline...but that stopped working...the I went to Vectra...it was better...but only for a couple of weeks...i was beginning to use many more four letter words than usual in my frustration...then I bought Revolution...it was like a nuclear detonation on the fleas...I have seen no fleas on my cat...I vacuum every 2-3 days and I have not seen any coming out of my carpet...it is a higher cost than other products...however, it is worth the price difference...this is truly the best flea product that I have used!!!...i highly recommend it...

Questions

Are heartworm preventatives required for cats? Should I discuss this with the vet before starting? I have never been told or asked about preventatives at my cats’ vet appointments. Do cats usually have to be tested first for heartworms?

Asked by: LGIGI
I'm a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Yes, all cats should be on heartworm prevention. Heartworms in cats is fatal and there isn't a treatment for heartworm removal in cats. Heartworms in cats are just as prevalent as heartworms in dogs but the test for cats isn't ideal because can give false negatives (a female worm must be present in order for the cat to test positive). It only takes a single heartworm to kill a cat and most of the time they end up in the lungs not the heart. I had a kitty that was 100% indoors only and he ended up with heartworms and died very suddenly. A cat isn't a good host for the worm which is why it usually ends up in the lungs instead of the heart. When the heartworm dies it causes an anaphylactic reaction in the cat and they die instantly. Because this happened to me while working in a vet practice (back in 2008) my vet immediately started recommending all cats be put on heartworm prevention. And both my kitties have been and always will be on prevention.

My puppy is 4 months and 7 pounds but she’ll grow to be 12-15 pounds. What weight should I choose for her?

Asked by: Mnl286
Our pharmacy recommends purchasing a single dose for dogs under 10 lbs until your furry baby is at her ideal weight range. Once your furry baby reaches her ideal weight, you can purchase the appropriate weight range (10.1 to 20 lbs) since we only sell the Revolution in quantities of 3, 6, and 12 packs.

(3 Pack = 3 doses which lasts 3 months.)

For:

Dogs (6 weeks of age or older and no weight requirement), Cats (8 weeks of age or older and no weight requirement)

Benefits:

  • Protects your pet from heartworms and fleas
  • Fights both internal and surface parasitic infections
  • Treats Sarcoptic mange in dogs
  • Treats and controls ear mites
  • Controls American Dog Tick infestation
  • Treats and controls roundworms and hookworms in cats
  • Only administered once a month

How does Revolution® (Selamectin) work?

Revolution® (Selamectin) works by penetrating the skin and entering your pet's bloodstream. Concentrations of selamectin, the active ingredient, in the tissue and bloodstream prevent heartworm disease. Selamectin also redistributes into the skin from the bloodstream and kills adult fleas, American dog ticks, and ear mites, and prevents flea eggs from hatching. It is also an anthelmintic, which means it fights to expel parasitic worms. Parasites ingest the drug when they feed on the animal's blood. Revolution® (Selamectin) is safe for pregnant and lactating pets.

Cautions:

Side effects are uncommon, with less than 1% of dogs showing signs of digestive upsets. It is not advisable to use Revolution® (Selamectin) in pets that are ill or underweight. Collies and herding dog breeds may have a reaction to the ingredient selamectin if given over the recommended dosage amount. If your dog is a collie or other herding dog breed and your veterinarian has prescribed Revolution® (Selamectin), we urge you to monitor your pet for 8 hours and call your vet if your dog displays any signs of weakness, staggering, dilated pupils, trembling, drooling, or pressing his or her head against a wall.
