Viokase-V Powder is activated whole raw pancreas; a pancreatic enzyme concentrate of porcine origin containing standardized amylase, protease and lipase activities plus esterases, peptidases, nucleases and elastase. It will replace pancreatic enzymes' secretions after total pancreatectomy.
Discontinue use in animals with symptoms of sensitivity.

Viokase-V contains enzymes that can aid in the digestion of proteins, carbohydrates and fats in dogs and cats with exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. It is available in a powder form that can be sprinkled over your pet's food. Viokase-V Powder requires a prescription from your veterinarian.
Tell your veterinarian if your pet is pregnant, lactating, or breeding. Consult with your veterinarian if your pet has a history of sensitivity to the active ingredients in Viokase-V Powder. Also talk to your veterinarian about giving your pet a bland, easily digestible diet.
Viokase-V Powder should be added to moistened food, mixed thoroughly, and allowed to incubate at room temperature for 15-20 minutes. Dosing is administered before each meal. The average dose per meal in dogs is 3/4 to 1 teaspoonful and 1/4 to 3/4 teaspoonful for cats.
Side effects of Viokase-V Powder can include diarrhea, weight loss, and increased appetite.
Administer the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is close to the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume a regular dosing schedule. Do not double dose.
If an overdose is suspected, contact your veterinarian immediately.
