What is Vectra for Cats?
Vectra for Cats is an effective, topical solution for cats and kittens over 8 weeks of age, providing control of adult fleas, flea eggs, and flea larvae and pupae. It kills fleas within 6 hours of application and protects your cat or kitten from all stages of fleas for one month. This topical solution is quick drying, non-greasy and comes in an easy-to-use applicator. Vectra for Cats kills fleas that may transmit diseases, including bartonellosis, tapeworm, and tularemia. It also kills fleas that may cause flea allergy dermatitis and anemia.

Vectra for Cats contains active ingredients that work to keep your cat protected from fleas throughout a whole month. Dinotefuran quickly kills fleas through contact, meaning they don't have to bite your cat to die, and Pyriproxyfen prevents the development of all flea stages.
Vectra for Cats is meant for use only in cats and kittens over 8 weeks of age. Do not use on dogs, and keep out of the reach of children. Do not use on debilitated, aged, medicated, pregnant or nursing animals known to be sensitive to pesticide products without first talking to your veterinarian.

The topical is used for the prevention and treatment of adult fleas, flea eggs, and flea larvae and pupae. Vectra for Cats is an over-the-counter (non-prescription) product that is available in 2 different packages for cats and kittens of different sizes: 2-9 lbs (Tan Box) and 9+ lbs (Green Box).
What should I discuss with my veterinarian before giving Vectra for Cats to my pet?
Tell your veterinarian if your cat is debilitated, aged, medicated, pregnant or nursing, or sensitive to pesticide products.
How should Vectra for Cats be applied?
Vectra for Cats should be applied externally to the skin at the base of the cat's or kittens' head.
What are the potential side effects of Vectra for Cats?
Monitor your cat after application. Individual sensitivity, such as slight transitory redness, erythema, scratching, pruritus or other signs of discomfort at the site of application, may occur. If signs of sensitivity occur, bathe your cat with mild soap or shampoo and rinse with large amounts of water. If signs of individual animal sensitivity occur and persist, contact your veterinarian. Other symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea have been reported.
What happens if I miss giving a dose of Vectra for Cats?
Give the next dose as soon as you remember and resume a monthly schedule.
What happens if I overdose my pet on Vectra for Cats?
Contact your veterinarian or your veterinary emergency room.
What should I avoid while giving Vectra for Cats to my pet?
Avoid contact with the eyes and mouth. Vectra for Cats is for external use only. Avoid giving to debilitated, aged, medicated, pregnant or nursing, or cats that are sensitive to pesticide products without first talking to your veterinarian.
What other drugs will affect Vectra for Cats?
Tell your veterinarian if your cat is taking any other medications or supplements.
Vectra for Cats Directions:
- Remove the applicator from the package, and make sure your cat is standing or in a comfortable position for an easy application.
- While holding the tube upright and away from the face, place thumb and index finger around the applicator tip under the large disk. With the other hand, grasp the stem of the applicator tip above the small disk. Press down firmly on the small disk until both disks meet, piercing the seal. (See illustration on the packaging)
- Part the hair down to the level of the skin and slowly apply the product at the base of the cat's or kitten's head until the tube is completely empty.
- Repeat every month or as directed by your veterinarian.
Avoid superficial application to the cat's or kitten's hair.
