Torsemide is a loop diuretic that encourages the kidneys to excrete fluids and salt from the body, causing increased urination, to aid in the treatment of edema associated with liver failure, congestive heart failure, and kidney disease, and other conditions.
Torsemide causes increased urination which can lead to dehydration. Always make sure your pet has access to fresh, clean water. As with all medications, allergic reaction may occur. Seek emergency veterinary attention if your pet experiences hives, facial swelling, inability to urinate, or difficulty breathing.

Torsemide is indicated for the treatment of edema (water retention) associated with chronic conditions including heart disease, liver disease, and kidney disease.
Let your veterinarian know if your pet is pregnant or lactating. Tell your vet about any other medications or supplements your pet takes, including those available over-the-counter.
Torsemide should be given orally as prescribed with or without food.
Common side effects include constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, restlessness, increased urination, indigestion, nausea, and stomach upset. Contact your veterinarian if side effects occur. As with all medications, allergic reaction may occur. Seek emergency veterinary attention if your pet experiences hives, facial swelling, inability to urinate, or difficulty breathing.
Give the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it’s close to their next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue the prescribed dosing schedule until medication is finished or as directed by your veterinarian. Do not double dose to make up for a missed dose.

Torsemide can make your pet more sensitive to the sun and they may sunburn more easily, particularly on hairless areas of the body like the nose, eyelids, and ears. Torsemide causes increased urination which can lead to dehydration. Avoid allowing your pet to become dehydrated. Make sure your pet always has access to fresh, clean water.
Other drugs may interact with Torsemide, including certain antibiotics, aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and other medications not listed here.
Torsemide should be given as directed by your veterinarian.
