About this product

What is Porus® One Kidney Support for Cats ?

Each packet of Porus® One contains Renaltec, a selective carbon-based adsorber of protein byproducts in the gut. Renaltec is composed of tiny, black homogenous spheres with diameters of 0.1 to 0.3 mm. Each sphere has a smooth surface and is perforated by numerous pores leading to a branched channel system similar to the bronchi. This smooth surface assures an unimpeded passage through the GI tract, neither adhering to the mucosa nor accumulating in the intestine

Suitable for:

Cats

Benefits:

  • Tasteless
  • Odorless
  • Administered at Mealtime
  • Readily Accepted by Cats
  • NASC Quality Seal Product

How does Porus® One Kidney Support for Cats work?

Porus One contains Renaltec™, a selective adsorber of protein byproducts in the gut. Adsorbtion involves binding of toxins to the Porus One sphere. Porus One binds protein byproducts in the intestines where they are then excreted in the feces.* As a result, the byproducts cannot be converted into uremic toxins. Porus One is excreted in the feces. It is neither metabolized nor absorbed and does not accumulate in the body.

Caution:

For use in cats only. If your animals condition worsens or does not improve, stop product administration and consult your veterinarian. Safe use in pregnant animals or animals intended for breeding has not been proven.

How should I store this product?

Really helps my cat with CKD
This was prescribed by my cat’s vet. I have been using this product for about 3 months now and I have seen significant improvements in my young cat with CKD. He is eating and drinking better and his energy has improved significantly. 10/10 recommend to ask your vet about this if your cat has a kidney disease.

It’s extended my cat’s life
Porus has given my cat an extra year of life and counting! His numbers made a dramatic change after starting on Porus. I gave it 4 stars instead of five bc of the price.

A lifesaver!
Kidney disease is very common in house cats. Over the years I have had cats who suffered with this disease and there was really nothing to do but change their diets and enjoy the time left with them. I tried Porus One on the recommendation of my vet and it has really slowed down the disease. My cat is on prescription food as well, but it is my belief that this product is really working to slow things down. I would recommend this to anyone who has a cat with the beginning stages of kidney disease. It is well worth the money. Porus One plus prescription food is the way to go for sure.

Expensive for carbon but easily fed
Started my 15 year old cat on this Aug 2023 and she's been on it with benazepril since. It is now March 2024. Her blood work held steady all this time until last month. BUN and Creatine were holding at 35 and 2.5, with Phosphorus being normal, and SDMA at 14. Basically all except Ph, which was fine, were holding on the normal to high line. She started not wanting to eat and peeing A LOT in February. Got an appointment with the vet and the main thing that went up was the BUN and Creatine. They said they basically doubled. It didn't help she stopped taking her meds when she stopped eating. I have since switched from fancy expensive, supposed to be good food, to Fancy Feast and she devoured it. We go back in a month for a recheck and the vet suggested another supplement in place of this one but I'm hesitate due to the fact it contains some plant ingredients that I don't know if she'd react to. But its supposed to lower BUN and Creatine. Since I still have a good bit of this left I'll keep giving it until we do a recheck to see where were at since now she's taking her meds on this food. I don't know if she stopped eating ergo not getting meds then causing a problem. Or things are just naturally progressing. I think this product is overpriced for carbon balls but if it helps then I'm going to give it. Plus, usually I can get a good promo code to use on it to bring down the price. And with that its cheaper than the vet. And except for when I first started getting it and PetMeds didn't have it in stock and didn't communicate well about that, they have been great to get it from. Always arrives in a good timely manner and in excellent condition. If I told someone where to buy this I say right here. Just look for coupons. As far as kitty and this, I'm just going to give what makes her happy and content. Now if she would just get her butt in the litter box when she pees. Sheesh!!! Cats! She also eats it without any problems. Also, when the vet prescribed this for her she said you could give them together but your not supposed to. I guess maybe the carbon keeps the other med from working. So I like to give at least 2 hours apart. For me, one med am and one med pm.
