How does PetSafe Plastic Pet Door work?
Installing the pet door is a simple DIY project. The pet door is installed on interior or exterior wood, PVC, metal, and paneled doors. A snap-on closing panel is included so you can control your cat or dog’s access and keep other animals from coming into your home.

- Install the PetSafe Plastic Pet Door using the included instructions.
- Maintenance should be done once a month to ensure the pet door is free of any debris blocking the magnetic strip or damage.
- Clean dirt off the pet door using mild soap and water.
- Look for damage in the pet door. Replace the flap if any tears are seen.
- Check the magentic strip for any debris that may prevent the flap from properly sealing.
- Ensure your door is properly sealed. Adjust the flap if there are issues with the seal, such as wind coming through.
Tip:
Train Your Pet to Use the Pet Door - It may help for you to be on one side of the door and your pet on the other. Lift or tape open the flap and try to talk your pet through the pet door. After your pet has gone through a few times, allow the flap to touch your pet’s back so they will become comfortable using the pet door. If your pet will not go through the door, tape the flap open until they use it on their own. Try treats or toys to encourage your pet to go through the pet door and become comfortable using it.
