Contact your veterinarian if the symptoms begin to get worse or if there is no improvement in the pet's condition after a few days. Breed Mix Hound/Doberman
Worked to eliminate large eyelid cyst 11-8-23
My 9-year-old Hound Doberman mix had slowly developed an upper eyelid cyst over the last few years. Earlier this year it had reached the point that it now was clearly visible, and he occasionally would try and wipe it away. I had asked my vet during his annual exam last April, what are our options. The vet seemed to believe that the only way to resolve the problem would be to either cut it out or to a lesser extent snip it off. She thought that cutting it out would be most effective although she could not guarantee that there would not be a reoccurrence. The procedures she recommended ranged in cost from $1100.00 - $ 2100.00+ dollars and would also require anesthesia most likely or sedation at the very least. Although I considered the cost for repair to be extremely high, I ultimately did not want to risk it or put my buddy through all that or the extended recovery time and any additional cost of follow up visits. So, after doing my own research and finding my answers, I then contacted my vet (to see if she would confirm my findings) and asked her if there were any creams or ointments that we could try that would help dissolve and reduce the growth on his upper eyelid. She somewhat reluctantly told me that we could try Neomycin Polymyxin Dexamethasone Ophthalmic Ointment. However, she said that it would not work to reduce or dissolve the area and at best it might keep it from irritating him but again said removal was the only way that it would be gone. Once we sated the topical application, we were applying it two time a day. We did this for two weeks and there was a somewhat noticeable result. We then continued with a single daily application for Approximately 2 1/2 months. I could noticeably tell that the texture of the eyelid cyst was changing and getting smaller and contracting as I documented the changes with weakly photos. Finally, one happy day when my buddy was looking up at me, I could see that the remainder of what was initially approximately a 1/4" to 5/16" eyelid cyst had completely fallen off. It is now two weeks later, and I have continued to apply a small amount once daily to the eyelid gland area where the point of attachment and/or forming was or began and will continue doing so until using the slight remainder of the ointment within the small tube. I hope that this will help and give hope to others who might be trying to help their best friends that are dealing with an eyelid cyst, and truly hope that this will work for all as well as it worked for us. +

Really works to heal
My little Havanese, Dottie, got swiped in the eye by my little rescue dog who likes to play with her. Dottie suffered a slight laceration to her 2nd eyelid so that it was red and inflamed. About 2 days of treatment with Neo Poly Dex (1 drop every 8 hrs) completely cured her. I really recommend for reducing inflammation of the eye, and I think your vet will agree.

Dolly responds well to NPDO medication
Dolly does well with Neo Poly Dex Ophthalmic eye medication. Our Veterinary prescribed this for her. I give her a massage with a hand held battery operated massager. After that, I just pick her up and cradle her like a baby and instill a drop in each eye. She is wonderful about everything. Perhaps it soothes her eye as well as medicates. She is an adult platinum tip Tonkinese cat.
