Vet Review This is a wonderful quick kill short duration flea adulticide that begins killing adult fleas within 30 minutes. It does not leave pesticide residue on the pet or in the home, and when combined with its sister product Program, offers an excellent non-pesticidal alternative for all around flea control to topical pesticides that some clients are concerned about. I have rarely seen any side effects in my clinical experience in using this product. I have used it up to once daily in flea infested animals, but more commonly I use it once or twice weekly during flea transmission season along with the once monthly Program product. Another wonderful advantage of this product is its safety in administering it to pregnant or nursing dogs, who can often be a big source of fleas to their nursing puppies or kittens. The biggest disadvantage to this product is that it only kills adult fleas, but this problem is easily circumvented by combining it with the Program product. Belonging to the latest generation of flea/tick parasiticides(known as Isoxazoline medications), these palatable, beef flavored chewable tablets kills fleas quite effective, with most adult fleas being killed within 8 hours. One of the downsides, as compared with Vectra 3D is that Credilio does not repel either fleas or ticks, and has no effect on biting mosquitoes, which are the main vectors that transmit heartworms to dogs. Credilio and products of its class are one of the most effective products against several species of severe disease transmitting ticks, including ones that transmit Lyme Disease, Ehrlichiosis, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Anaplasmosis, which have been increasing in incidence in recent years. As with other members of this drug class, we have also used this drug in treatment and prevention of both demedex mites and scabies mites, although this is an off label use. Giving with a full meal reduces risks of digestive reaction. Overall the tablet is well tolorated, but occasional diarrhea, vomiting or digestive upset is seen. I would look to one of the other products like Vectra 3D, if there is a history of significant neurologic disease or seizures. I give this product an overall rating of a 4 out of 5.
