Rated 1 out of 5 by from don't waste your money this product is terrible ! it did not do anything to prevent fleas. my dog is inside 80% of the time and the fleas are now in my house.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Doesn't work I bought a 6 dose & when I used it on my 2 dogs they were scratching & biting within days. I've been told if bathing to wait for a few days for skin oils to normalize or flea treatments don't work. I always do this & it's worked for years. Not anymore

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT IMPRESSED I AM NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL. DOGS WERE ITCHING WITHIN 5 DAYS AND FLEAS SHOWED UP WITHIN 7 DAYS. NOT HAPPY AT ALL.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not to good for me I followed directions but still lost my beautiful 7yo lab to Lyme disease. People get your dog vaccinated instead of relying on something that’s not 100%effective

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really works! I buy this q 6 months for my Chihuahua, Pug and my cat. I have no problems at all.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Only worked a little over a week! I used to highly recommend this product but it doesn't even last a month anymore. It only last up to 10 days. It will definitely kill the fleas right after applying the application. The fleas and flea eggs will fall to the floor after my pooch scratches or shakes them off! I took him camping with me and didn't have a problem all weekend with any new fleas or ticks, etc. But once I came home any new adult fleas and new flea eggs won't be killed or repelled. I took my dog camping from the July 30th to Aug 2, applied the dose on July 29. It is now Aug 8th. I noticed his skin tag had bursted when I was petting him and was bleeding with flea eggs surrounding it! When I gave him a flea bath, my tub is now full of dead fleas!! :( If You want a quick fix I recommend this product, but for a full month of protection, I'm most likely going to get a prescription from the vet!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible! I always use seresto, but decided to give this a try because it had mosquito protection. My dog has not had a flea in over 6 years, after using this for two months I found two fleas on her and one on me! My dog has now broken out due to her extreme flea allergy, so this will cost me a vet bill, new flea treatment, I’ll have to treat the house and yard. So save yourself the hassle and do not use this product!!

Does it repel ticks or neutralize the poison from them?  When removing a tick should you keep it to show the vet?

Asked by: Ruth
Thank you for your question. With this product fleas and ticks are killed on contact with a treated dog, which means that fleas don't have to bite and ticks don't have to attach to die.

Will flea shampoo be harmfull to my pet? I have already given my dog a dosage 10 days ago. Will it cancel the K9?

Asked by: bridgette
Giving your dog a flea bath will wash the K-9 Advantix off your pet. If you are seeing live fleas, look at the size of the flea as you may be seeing smaller, newly hatched fleas getting on your dog for their first meal and then their death from the Advantix. Use the Advantix for at least 3 months and see if you notice a decrease and eventual elimination of the fleas. If not, you may have a resistant population (although the manufacturer says it's not possible, but it is) so getting another, newer product (such as NexGard, Bravecto, Comfortis or Simparica) or you have an untreated source of new fleas into your environment, such as stray dogs, cats or even wildlife.

What is K9 Advantix II?

K9 Advantix II is a monthly preventative for dogs that offers comprehensive protection against ticks, fleas, mosquitoes, biting flies, and chewing lice. K9 Advantix II is a top veterinarian-recommended brand because it repels and kills all life stages of fleas (eggs, pupae, larvae, and adult fleas) and ticks (Deer ticks, American dog ticks, Brown dog ticks, and Lone Star ticks). K9 Advantix II kills 98-100 percent of fleas within 12 hours and continues working for one month to prevent infestations. Fleas and ticks are killed on contact with a treated dog, which means that fleas don't have to bite and ticks don't have to attach to die. This helps prevent transmission of flea-borne and tick-borne diseases such as tapeworms, Lyme disease, tick paralysis, ehrlichia, and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. Killing fleas before they bite may also help prevent skin allergies caused by flea saliva. As well, K9 Advantix II repels mosquitoes before they bite, which may help prevent transmission of heartworms. K9 Advantix II protects your pet before parasites have a chance to bite, not after.

For:

Dogs and Puppies (7+ weeks of age, weighing 4+ lbs)

Benefits:

  • Repels and kills disease-carrying fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes before they bite
  • Kills all life stages of fleas (eggs, pupae, larvae, and adult fleas) and ticks (Deer ticks, American dog ticks, Brown dog ticks, and Lone Star ticks)
  • Kills 98-100 percent of adult fleas within 12 hours
  • Ends flea life cycle by preventing flea offspring (eggs, pupae, and larvae) from maturing into adult fleas
  • Repels biting flies and kills chewing lice
  • Provides one month of protection against ticks, fleas, mosquitoes, biting flies
  • Waterproof - remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or after exposure to rain or sunlight

How does K9 Advantix II work?

K9 Advantix II combines imidacloprid and permethrin to repel and kill fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes. Both ingredients work on contact, attacking parasite nerve cells at different sites. Together these ingredients overwhelm the nervous system killing the parasite. Pyriproxyfen is an insect growth regulator. K9 Advantix II topical solution also repels biting flies and kills lice.

Cautions:

DO NOT USE ON CATS. Cats cannot metabolize the ingredients used in this product. Cats must be separated from dogs during treatment. Do not allow your cat to come in contact with a treated dog for 24 hours. Some small and medium dogs may have an adverse skin reaction.

Brand Name:

K9 Advantix II (Bayer)

How should K9 Advantix II be applied?

For use only on dogs. Do not use on cats or on other animals. Have your dog stand for easy application. Part the hair on your dog's back between the shoulder blades, until the skin is visible. For dogs up to 20 lbs, apply the entire contents of the applicator tube to 2 or 3 spots on the top of the back from the shoulder to the base of the tail. For dogs 21 lbs and over, apply the entire contents of the applicator tube to 4 or 6 spots on the top of the back from the shoulder to the base of the tail. If your household has cats or other pets, separate them from the treated dog for 24 hours.

What are the potential side effects of K9 Advantix II?

Monitor your dog after application. Side effects may include signs of skin irritation such as redness, scratching, or other signs of discomfort. Gastrointestinal signs such as vomiting or diarrhea have also been reported. If these or other side effects (such as lethargy or agitation) occur, consult your veterinarian or call 1-800-422-9874. Bayer, the manufacturer of K9 Advantix II, indicates that some of these symptoms will dissipate within 48 hours; however, if your pet is experiencing adverse reactions, please complete the following steps:

  • Stop applying the medication
  • Wash your dog with a detergent based soap (Dawn or Palmolive dish detergents work best). Do not scrub the affected area, as this may cause more skin irritation. Please note: This process is applicable for both dogs and cats.
  • Call your veterinarian
  • Call Bayer Emergency Support Line at 1-800-422-9874. Let Bayer know your dog is having an adverse reaction to K9 Advantix by calling 1-800-422-9874. This line is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
