Is it good to use an ear powder afterwards to keep overproducing ear wax to a minimum?

Asked by: Anonymous
If you use this stuff regularly (1-2x per week) that should be enought. Ear wax is healthy, so you don't want to overcompensate. Of course, ask your vet. Also, try this tip: How to clean ear or medicate an ear: Don’t squirt in solution! Most pets hate this. Instead, •soak a cotton ball with cleaner or medication •put the cotton ball into the ear •close the ear flap, and very gently massage

Use the ear cleanser before applying the medication if you are using any meds for the ear. Don't put meds in a dirty ear or any part of there body for that fact, I check my dogs ears everyday and especially after being outside. However, your issue with your pet's ears, This breed is known for ear problems so I want you to know, you are not alone re: his ears. O.K. Now the problem with the smell, ect. ect. is due to (3) possibilities...The vet will do a process of elimanation of the following (3). It can either be *1. Bacteria, *2.Viral/Fungal infections, *3. Over- amounts of YEAST!. before getting a prescribe product, you should try "ZYMOX OTIC" That takes care of all (3) issues ..(unless there mites) You can look under our website for this product & it will give you all the info you need. Is this ok on puppies 8 wks. and older?

I have a Golden Retriever and the Vet suggested I get something to clean her ears to control the yeast and water problems from swimming. Would this product work for this?
Asked by: Anonymous
yes, this is an excellent product to use for your golden retriever. as long as you keep up with cleansing your dog's ears on a regular basis, it should ward off yeast type and other ear issues and when the dog swims, dry the inside of the ears completely with the corner of a towel, not delving into the ear canal, just merely drying it out well. that will help tremendously.

Is your solution clear with a blue tint? And is it formulated after a product sold in dog show specialty stores?

Years ago I purchased an OTC, clear, blue-tinted solution with an alcohol-based, yet pleasant, smell. It cleaned up my dogs' ears wonderfully well when they got that brown, smelly wax in them from irritation (not infection). It was the best ! It came with a small pointy-tipped squeeze bottle, so when the last little bit was left, I put it in the application bottle and threw away the original package. I do not recall the name or the ingredients. Now, many years later, the store is gone, my new pup has the same problem, and I have no more solution. The reviews of your product and its SD alcohol 40 base make me think it may be similar. The products I find in PetSmart and Petco just aren't the same as what I had.
