This product is no better than the new formula of Petromalt. The cat does not like the smell. She runs away from it. I cannot get her to consume it. I'm returning it.
Our cat has been using Lax'aire for over 10 years. When it became unavailable in 2011, we tried another 'like' product. Our cat wouldn't go near it and, hence, other issues ensued. We were very happy to see Lax'aire become available for purchase again.
I didn't realize Lax'aire was an OTC product until recently. The vet prescribed it for Snowball in Feb. Snow licked it off my fingers, and it worked well, as long as he was drinking enough water. I ran out, tried to get more from the vet, and was given Laxatone. Snow didn't like the taste, would not lick it off my fingers, and didn't want to lick it off his paws. I thought he was licking it off eventually, until I found some on the carpet. I insisted on getting Lax'aire, and found out that the vet still did not have it. I found it here. Snow licks it off my fingers, and it's working. He's 18 years old, and VERY picky. He eats the Lax'aire like it's a treat.
My cat just turned 16 and has used Lax'aire for the last 6 years. I was devestated when it was unavailable. Trips to the vet for enemas was not our idea of a good time. I buy 10 tubes at a time as I give it to my cat 2 times a day. Noting works as well and he just loves it.....licks it off my fingers and runs to get it when he see the tube.
One of my cat Snake has to be on presceiption CD diet. He can't have regular food becasue crystals are formed in his urine and he couldn't go to bathroom. Is it safe to give him Lax'aire for hair balls? Ding Ding and Monkey are fine.

My cat has been on a prescription diet for 12 yr. She has been using Lax'aire, and a similar product for a couple of years with no problem. When I say similar, I mean the same ingredients.
Hi Tsetsefly. Good question. There are no contraindications for using Lax'aire with any prescription foods, or any other prescriptions. It is always wise to check with your vet first, however, when using any product while the dog is on prescription medications and/or food.
My 14 year old male DSH has really done well with this. "Solve" is almost too much to ask for, but giving him this daily has certainly made him "productive"! He loves it, it works .. almost as good as it gets.

It works for my cats constipation. My cat doesn't have a real big problem with hairballs, he does however have an occasional bout of constipation and this has worked at returning regularity within a day or two, every time!
