SHED TERMINATOR product review:
One of the most common questions I am asked in every day veterinary practice is "why does my pet shed so much?" While there are many factors possible in each individual case from seasonal to nutritional or other internal health issues, the fact that most of are pets are on the same processed commercial pet foods day in and out accounts for one of the biggest causes in my opinion of this frustrating problem. With this great blend of supplements in one product, with time and patience, I find that many patients coats and shedding will improve when used long term, as well as having the other health benefits of some of the major ingredients in this versatile product. With its combination of flax seed oil and evening primrose oil, this nice balance of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids is so helpful not only in helping promote soft and shiney, dandruff free coats, but also in helping as anti inflammatories and as wonderful preventative supplements for other conditions in the body. I have found the ingredient lecithin quite helpful in calming the nervous system as well as in helping reduce shedding. I will even sometimes add kelp powder or a kelp supplement when using this product to add additional trace minerals so important for overall body health, including a healthy skin and coat. Zinc and selenium(also included in this product) have a proven tract record in helping many types of skin and coat problems. In fact, many dogs with low thyroid offer suffer from selenium deficiencies, which makes it even more important to supplement dogs with low thyroid conditions or breeds predisposed to low thyroids with a product like this. The wnderful combination of B vitamins in this product help with enzyme systems throughout the body, as well as with mood and well being. The only problems I have seen with this product is occasional palatability problems, as it does have a strong taste. This can often be minimized by mixing with a bit of peanut butter in dogs or small amount of tuna or tuna juice in cats. I have also occasionally see a sensitive pet get diarrhea rarely. I recommend this product overall, however, and give it an efficacy of 4.5, with ease of use a 4.

The shed terminater didn't seem to help at all on both my Chihuahuas. Was deeply disappointed with this product. Used it for 6 weeks with no improvement in their shedding.

skeptical, but won over!
A product that decreased shedding? I admit I was skeptical, but I went ahead and bought a bottle along with PetMeds Omega 3 (for a shiny coat and healthy skin) thinking with two 80 lb. lab dogs and hardwood floors what have I got to lose? All I can say is WOW! These products, when used in conjunction, really work! My dogs' coats are smoother and shinier and the shedding has noticeably decreased. I admit I got them groomed before using these products, but still experienced more shedding after the groom than after using these products. I only wish PetMeds made the shed terminator in an economy size, as 6 tablets a day goes quickly!

Didn't work for me
I adopted a dog that was listed as a blue heeler mix. He's short hair with a little longer hair around the neck and hind legs/tail. He sheds TERRIBLY!!! I read the reviews and was so hopeful! He's been on the pills for a month now and I don't see a change at all. It's SO disappointing! I just wasted my money.....

I've been giving 2 per day of the above mentioned Omega & our Black Lab sheds terribly, could that be the reason? Should I discontinue it?
AnswersAnswer:Â I would try just the Shed Terminator.Nothing else has worked for my little dog. I spent years trying everything else. However, every dog is different. Check the labels. I think that Shed T has some of the same ingredients.
In a lot of the reviews it seemed to help with the shedding for longer haired dogs (labs, etc) and not for the short haired ones.
I have an English Bulldog and am looking for a product to decrease her shedding, will this product work? Thanks! AnswersAnswer:Â It has worked great for my weimaraner and he is pretty short-haired when you compare to a lab.
My golden retriever weighs 65 lbs.
I read where the weight for the 2 tablets am/pm dosage is 25-60 lbs and the over 60 lbs dosage is 3 tablets am/pm. Would the extra 5 lbs be enough to warrant a whole or even 1/2 another tablet? Thanks. AnswersNote: Any trademarks are the property of their respective companies. |
