We had purchased and gone through 2 plastic versions of a drinking fountain. They were noisy and just didn't hold up. We finally bought this stainless version. It works perfectly and has already lasted longer than the two plastic versions combined. And it looks a LOT better.

Metal has worked out compared to a plastic model animal fountain. Any model needs filters and cleaning. Our pets love this fountain, and we had trouble with a different large water fountain that was a plastic model, so I would recommend this model based on the way the water fountain movement occurs and the materials. We placed it on a small wooden footstool also and thus it doesn't hurt the necks, or the animals stand up to drink.

It was very easy to set up and I noticed my cats drinking more water immediately. I purchased the black ceramic style. It doesn't look like a "common watering bowl". Very stylish and cute. It also does not make any loud splashing noises and the pump is one of the quietest I've had in my home. The best feature to this fountain is where the water pump is housed. In this fountain the pump is housed in a plastic case and all water must first flow through the filter and then through water pump and out the top. This is ingenious! It traps all cat hair, "gunk" and any any other debris (cat food or any other strange things my kitties bring with them to the water bowl) in the filter before it can get stuck in the pump. This is unlike any other water fountain I have owned - all others, the water is pumped though the water pump first and then through a filter and then out the top of the cat fountain, almost as if the most important thing is for the cat to be drinking filtered water. I love my cats, but really they don't need filtered water... I've caught one drinking out of the toilet before...pretty sure "pure" water is not what they think about. All other fountains I have tried the pumps become repeatedly clogged and wear out quickly due to cat hair and gunk. It is also difficult to clean this type of buildup from these pumps. The fact that this filter catches everything before it enters the pump makes cleaning much easier. I have 2 very long haired cats, so I had to clean a little more often, once every 1 -2 weeks, but all I had to do was clean the housing unit - usually getting any hair or gunk off with a paper towel and then washing it in the sink. It is dishwasher safe if that was needed. I also rinsed the filter and pump under running water and then put them back in the housing unit and done. I replaced the filter about every 30 -45 days as needed. I do hate to admit that as of this moment we do not currently use this fountain, and solely for one reason. I have one cat who loves to play in the water. After about 9 months of owning this fountain and loving it, my cat began to knock the top of the fountain off just enough that all the water would run out onto the floor instead of into the bowl. I watched her do it one day, and it was no a simple task for her to accomplish, but once she figured it out, it began to happen more and more often until sadly I had to find something she couldn't knock off course. I have yet to find anything that has a filtration system like this one that works as well, and that is why I gave it such excellent marks. It is only the fact that I am not currently using this fountain at this time that it did not receive a perfect score from me. If I could just keep my naughty kitty from knocking the top askew and the water running out of the bowl, I would never switch to any other product.

How long is the cord?

Without going to measure it, I'd say it's maybe 24 inches long (or a little less). I have ours plugged into an extension cord so it will reach behind a desk.

where can you get a replacement water pump for the raindrop fountain

Directly from the manufacturer for one. The cost was approx under $20 including shipping. Just look them up on the web and call their number. They have a one year warranty but we did not want to bother-- and the directions and unit may instruct on cleaning it out and putting it in differently than some users might have done.
