I was looking for Dermachlor Rinse on this site when Nolvasan popped up. It's close, but does not contain chlorhexidine gluconate 0.2% like the rinse my vet gave me for my adult cat's abcess due to a bite. Nolvasan states clearly it is NOT for puncture wounds.
My dog has had skin problems for a few years now. Which resulted in skin infections and constant trips to the vet for medications and treatments. I tried this product a week ago and the results have been great. She has reduced her scratching and her skin is smooth and not red or rough, like it use to be. The product seems to work. I also use the BE SOOTH calming spray too. I am so glad that i have finally found something that will give my dog some peace.
I have used nolvasan skin & wound cleanser for my cat cali she burnt her hine leg on a light blub and I put that on her burn and the nolvasan skin and wound cleanser and it healed the burn really good and left no scar Iwas really happy with this product and I keep it on hand at all times and I would not be with out the nolvasan skin and wound cleanser.
amazing!!!!! my dog had a major rash that was scabbed over where i put his flea treatment. i believe he was allergic to it. it was so bad. the scab was probably 4 inch long by 1 inch wide, right in the middle of his shoulder blades. i bathed him once every 2 days for a week with this product. there is no sign of scabs!!!! i also used the oatmeal shampoo for sensitive skin and the allergy pills. he is doing soooo much better!!!! thank you so much for making my baby feel better!
Unfortunately Nolvasan will not prevent the pet from licking the wound. You may want to discuss this issue with your veterinarian, especially since you allude to the fact that the wound hasn't fully healed in 4 weeks.
My advice would be to have the incision examined by your veterinarian. Turning red may be a sign of an infection. You could use Nolvasan Skin and Wound Cleanser. However, if the area does not get better, or if the redness gets worse, definitely take your pet to the veterinarian.
Hi Lillie, good question. The Nolvasan should not be used on your dog's nose. It is not appropriate for any areas where there are mucous membranes, such as the nose. It should not be licked.
