Fast balance: From one of the most trustworthy and reliable neutraceutical companies in the veterinary profession called Vetri-science, and their wonderful long record of perfomance with holistic oriented vets, comes a very effective short term treatment of diarrhea of many causes. The specialized yeast extract in this product is loaded with B vitamins, health promoting bacteria like lactobacillus(known as acidophilus), as well as enzymes and other healthy bacterial flora for our pets' digestive tract. Because almost 80 percent of our pets immune system starts in the digestive tract, it is critical to maintain optimal health of the bacterial population so that proper digestion can occur and so that the immune system can function to its fullest capacity. I have found this product most helpful in acute cases of diarrhea of practically any cause, and most pets do indeed love the taste. The only negative I have seen is that with larger dogs, the high dosing sometimes makes this product a bit expensive, only lasting a few doses when given short term. While it wonderful to use long term as well in supporting the digestive tract, because of the amounts used per serving and the subsequent expense, I will sometimes use other digestive aids, enzymes and probiotics on more of a long term level because of the economics of it. However because of this superior efficacy on the short term, I give this product an overall rating of 4.5. Taste a 5 and ease of use/efficacy a 4.5 as well.

I will keep an extra tube of this product around for emergencies without question. While it does take some doing getting down I found the easiest way for a feline (same way would work for other small animal) is to dispense dose onto a dish and then dropped the dosage onto the tongue with my finger, much more gentle than using the large dispenser, but I can see how well this would work for a horse! All in all, this is a great product which did work wonders for pulling my cat back from a life threatening bout of diarrhea . Very pleased with the list of ingredients themselves as well. Apparently the taste must not be too palatable but the product works, won't be without it now.

Cats could be more cooperative
I could see improvement the first and only time my cat licked Fast Balance off his paws, which is easy enough. But the second time I used it, he wouldn't touch it, wouldn't move and gave me a look of reproach that could wither the heartiest cat lover. After 10 minutes of this silent drama where he wouldn't rest or get comfortable, I cleaned his paws and apologized and promised never to wipe it on his paws again. Then, he cleaned his paws to get what I missed. The other issue is when he's nauseated, he keeps nothing down and licks nothing off his paws. I plan to put 1 cc directly in his mouth - can't possibly pull off 5 cc's, especially 3 times a day. This is WAY too much to get into a cat. However, I find myself in the position of choosing whether to fight with him and stress him out or just leave it alone. Jury is still out on this one - comes highly recommended though.

Good stuff
My cat did not like the taste so much, because she is a very picky eater. But it worked great for her. It was just a little hard to get it out of the tube.

Great product
My kitten had a lot of problems with diarrhea due to worms and that led to inflammation and irritation to her small intestine. She was constantly in pain especially when she licked her self clean because she would cry while licking her self. My kitten may not like the taste, but I had no choice but to force feed it. This product helped stop the inflammation and irritation within a week of usage and my kitten showed awesome results and she no longer cried to clean her self. This product alone will not completely diminish the diarrhea if caused by a bacteria or parasite. Overall this product is great!!!

Does anyone with cats have any tricks to get their cat to willingly take Fast Balance? Especially in such large amounts as 5 cc's 3 times a day? And what do you do when they have GI upset and won't keep anything down or take it? Anyone feel like fighting an elderly cat is just not right? Will not lick off paws. Thanks!
AnswersAnswer:Â Squirt the paste into her mouth. She'd almost have to eat it unless she spits it out... Most cats will end up eating the medicine/paste/stuff that you put in their mouth if it's gel or paste or something of similar consistency. Try to get it on the back of her tongue or mouth.
Answer:Â Putting it on the pack of the paws always worked, I am sorry that is not working for you. The only thing I could suggest is give a very small amount about 1/5 of the normal amount you would give them of wet food with it mix in there. Otherwise you may want to speak to the vet about other alternative methods. :)
Do I reset at the 5cc level each time it's given to my cat, or does it move by 5cc (from 5 to 10 to 15, etc.) each time it's used? Does it need to be shaken to get it back down towards the cap?
 AnswersAnswer:Â When you twist the dial circle to 5cc for the first time and press the plunger down it stops the administration of the paste. Then when you do it the next time you need to move it up by 5cc which would then show 10cc. Then the next time it would be 15cc, etc. Just move it by 5cc each time.
If I understand correctly, a 40 pound dog would need 15ccs 3X a day. Thus a 60 cc tube would last only slightly more than 1 day.

My vet recommended Fast Balance for my seven-year-old cat. Do I give it before or after she eats? Can I give it to her every day for several days to prevent vomiting?
