How this product should be used:

I got my cat back from my family (they had been caring for her untill I could get her allowed on my lease) And she was so infested with fleas and ticks she was misserable. I was horrified! This collar really does work in a matter of days. The day after we put it on her dead fleas/ticks and eggs were falling out of her fur everytime I picked her up or pet her. I don't know if it will last a full 7 months (The packaging does say if the infestation is bad collar may need to be replased after 2 or 3 months instead of 7) But I am relieved to not hear her cry out and then start scratching frantically. She is a long haired cat, 15 years old. She gets just as upset at having the monthly liquid treatments as she does at having a collar put on. At least I, hopefully, wont have to terrorize her with a treatment for 7 months! The smell is HORRIBLE but a very small price for me to pay for her comfort. She is my "companion animal" and I owe it to her to treat her right. The price of 1 collar every 7 months is something I can actually afford on my limited SSI incom. Thank you 1800petmeds for providing this product!

Its cheap for a reason
This doesn't work. Our puppy got fleas which spread to the cat. The dog's fleas are under control with his heart worm medicine and flea baths. I wanted to try a cheap cat flea collar before spending a lot more money on other products, while avoiding topical treatment because my cat doesn't do well with them. I didn't expect the collar to kill all of the fleas, but I did at least want to try to get them under control. We followed the directions, its been over a week. His fleas haven't gotten any better. We can still see large fleas, eggs and larva. yuck.

It's cheap for a reason
Maybe it's good at prevention? If your cat already has fleas, it won't get rid of them.
