How this product should be used: Buckle collar around cat's neck. Thread end of the collar through buckle hole and tighten as necessary, so that at least 2 ridges are covered by the buckle. Since the plastic buckle is molded into the collar, the possibility of neck irritation and buckle failure is reduced. Fit collar snug enough to prevent placement of the cat's leg or lower jaw through the collar, yet loose enough to be rotated around the neck. Leave an extra 1 or 2 inches on the length of the collar for adjustment, cut off the excess, and dispose of in trash. Check periodically and and adjust fit, if necessary, especially when kittens are rapidly growing. Replace in 8 months for continuous protection from adult fleas and flea egg hatch. Replace in 6 months for continuous protection from ticks. To release the collar, squeeze buckle between thumb and finger and pull sharply. Collar does not need replacement if cat becomes wet.
What are the side effects: Consult a veterinarian before using this product on debilitated, aged, medicated, pregnant, or nursing cats. Do not use on kittens under 12 weeks of age. Seems my cat pukin could not tolerate the collar, he threw up about 6x the 1st day after he wore. I switch to the frontline liquid and it's doing fine.. Thank you for your concern....
I used my last tube of Frontline Plus on my cat a month ago, and did not want the expense of expiration of remaining tubes, thus only need a flea collar in the fall/winter months. Biospot works, and lasts longer than the OTC flea collars. Disadvantage is the attachment process, it took her about a week to get used to it. When the warm season arrives, I will switch back to Frontline Plus.
I have one cat and one kitten, and used it on both. My cat handled it ok, but my kitten had an allergic reaction and ended up having to go to an emergency vet. She became lethargic, could not control her bathroom, was hiding in corners and the little box, and was making gurgle noises from her stomach and wouldn't be touched. Do not use on kittens!!
My cat Micky has had the collar for three weeks now and no fleas. the only thing I didn't like was the smell and believe me if this doesn't keep fleas and ticks away I don't know what will. eventually you get use to it and doesn't bother you anymore, overall a great product I would recommend. He had a recurring problem with earmits and what I didn't know was they can leave in the fur so a combination of the collar and mit medicine did the trick.
also my cats (both just turned 1 yr old) are purely indoor kitties and do not have fleas...is it ok to use these as a preventive?

Biospot has a bad reputation which I found out too late after I used it on my cat and she died. This may sound like an exaggeration. It's not. The vet who tried to save her confirmed that Biospot was responsible for her death. She died in convulsions.
Hello Sherri, It will not hurt the small dog if you use a flea and tick collar on them. Please remember not to adjust the collar to tight. We hope this flea and tick collar works for you.
If your pet is is infected with fleas then yes use them together but try the liquid first then a day or so later use the collar. I do not think mixing two liquids would be healthy for your pet. I also found using ivory soap with warm water and fleas brush will help get a good amount of fleas off the pet. Then put on the liquid to kill the larva and eggs.
my cats are indoor cats, and i play with them and pet them is there a hazard, because you have to use gloves when putting on the flea collars. thank you fred.

I still pet me cat with this collar with no problem my daughter who is a veterinarian assistant hugs her and carries her with no problem. I have had the collar for three weeks but there is no danger once it is put on.
When you put the collar on there's longer contact with the collar so it's recommended to wear gloves. After it's put on, you can play with and pet your cat but try to avoid touching the collar. If you do, wash your hands with soap and water.
