How it works:
Vetri-Lysine Plus contains two active ingredients, L-Lysine and DMG, both of which support the immune system. L-Lysine is an amino acid that supports antibody, hormone and enzyme production. L-Lysine also helps control feline herpes, due to its ability to compete with L-Arginine, the amino acid which is required by the herpes virus to replicate. Along with L-Lysine, Vetri-Lysine Plus also contains DMG, which is a metabolite that is naturally produced by your pet's body in small amounts to support the immune response.

Excellent and great for giving pills too! Lysine has been a great supplement for my cats to prevent FUS symptoms over many years. I switched to this kind because I need to give daily steroids (now for lymphoma) and it works great to hide the pills. If you flatten the soft chews, you can wrap them around small pills. My very picky cat will eat them on her own! No more pilling! We tried EVERYTHING and this is the only thing that hides the bad tasting steroid. I love these things! 05/11/2012

Vetri-Lysince Works! We fed these to one of the feral cats at our bldg. He was suffering from severe allergies. Constantly sneezing and ended up with a sinus infection. After taking the Lysine for about a week, I noticed an improvement. When we stopped the Lysine, he ended up sneezing away again. After taking Lysine, he also stopped scratching the ear and eye that were both impacted by his allergies. It worked well for our feral cat. Highly suggest it. Note: Expensive, I used only two per day. That seemed OK, though I did give him more the first week or so, to build it up in his system. :) 05/04/2012

Delicious! My cat has EGC, which our vet told me is caused by an immune system dysfunction. Luckily, my cat loves these! It is a soft, easy to chew fish-shaped morsel. It does have a fairly strong smell, but I think my cat liked that. Comes in a resealable bag so they should stay fresh. 01/13/2012

Can you use L-Lysine that is made for humans?

I got it in the health section at the store...It is "Finest Natural" L-Lysine amino acid. It is 500 mg. Is this okay to give to my cat if i give it in 250 mg doses?

Lysine is an amino acid that helps support the immune system. It may not be needed in your situation if your cats are healthy and have a good immune system already. You should ask your veterinarian if he/she thinks its necessary.

I'm sorry but Lysine is only used for feline herpes virus not feline immunodeficiency virus.

This product contains both L-Lysine and DMG, which support the immune system. L-Lysine is a naturally-occurring amino acid which inhibits the replication of the feline herpes virus. Adverse effects from long-term administration of L-lysine are extremely unlikely.
