NEW REVIEW: Apparently they are changing back to the original formula. I was sent a tube of their new "old" formula, plus a coupon for more. The cat eats it again. That's great. I am modifying this review, in fairness. What I see is that if consumers stand up for their beliefs, you CAN change things. But check out what you buy and what you are sent. I haven't looked for the new product yet...
I had used Petromalt Hairball Remedy for years. It was always easy to use & very effective. Unfortunately, the formula and packaging were changed with negative results. The plastic tube is cumbersome, the contents gooey and runny, and the taste must be awful as my cats run from it. I am switching to something else as I am tired of trying to chase my cats down along with having to clean the gooey mess of Petromalt from floors, furniture and my clothing.
I agree that the new Petromalt is horrible!! My cat LOVED the old formula. We give it to him for his chronic constipation. Now I don't know what to use and WILL NOT be using Petromalt!!
Maggie May used to love Petromalt. The new formula causes her to run away from it instead of running to it. It must really taste bad to her and the new stuff is hard to administer. It is too soupy and messy to use. The new tube is not user friendly like the old formula and tube were. I'm returning it.
Very recently the formula was changed from Barley Malt Syrup to CORN SYRUP with Barley Malt extract. Now that humans have figured out that corn syrup is bad in processed foods, the industry, that is so heavily subsidized and produces something like 2600 calories of corn calorie per US person per day!, had to figure out where to put all of this corn syrup that they now have in abundance. So they probably made an attractive offer to Sentry.... Sorry, my cat isn't buying it...and it sounds like many other cats aren't either. AND I would never feed my cat corn syrup anyways. I would not recommend this product, nor will I ever buy it again.
There are potentially 2 reasons. The first is that Petromalt may inhibit absorption of nutrients from the pet's food. The second is giving food is going to ramp up the pet's digestive system so the Petromalt will be eliminated quickly and not work the way it was intended to.
I use your petromalt, but almost evey nite around 3 to 4 am my cat has a dry cough. I have changed his diet cleaned his sleeping area, brushed him as often as possible and he still has the dry cough (without mucus). He is 6 years old and he had a respiratory problem when he was a kitten but it went away. Can you help me? Mark mcboyd@pacbell.net
My Cat Fluffy sneezes a lot and has done this for months. She does not have a cold maybe she has allergies. Not sure. What would be a good cure for this. Or do I need to take her to the Vet. ??
There are any number of reasons for a cat sneezing including allergies or infection. I would recommend you have your cat examined by your veterinarian.
I have 3 cats, my answer is Malt for sure. I ordered one of each flavor and held both out (one of mine will lick it right out of the tube) and she went for the Malt. I'm sure there are cats out there that will like both, but I think Malt is the way to go.

A:
I tried both for my cat but he prefers the malt flavor. He loves it! He doesn't really care for the fish but I guess all cats have there own preference. You know how finicky they are--lol
It really dependson your cat's individual taste. Malt is the orignal flavor, but many cats are big fish-lovers. In any case, both flavors are very palatable and your cat should enjoy the taste of either flavor.
