Now Grain Free Senior Recipe Dry Cat Food is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Food This food was recommended to me by a vet tech who fosters cats including seniors & special needs. The switch to this food about 2 years ago was easy for my 15 and 8 yr old cats. My cats are indoor only, not overweight, but I wanted a high quality food to help them age gracefully. Even with only a few teeth, my senior cat has no issues eating it. Both vomit a lot less & their coats look great. It is pricey, but I think this food has helped them maintain good health despite their increasing age.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST ALL NATURAL GRAIN FREE CAT FOOD. While this is a food, I use this as a treat for my cats. They are very particular about their foods.I like to give my cats treats, but find it difficult to find good treats with no grain in them due to their health conditions. I saw the ingredients in this and was very impressed with the nutritional value it provides. They still feel like they are getting treats, but all of their foods and treats are very nutritional now. They love the taste. and I feel so much better as their mama knowing I am providing them with the absolute best products I can find.

Q&A

My 15 year old cat has just been diagnosed with the early stages of kidney disease. The Vet wants us to put her on a prescription diet, and I haven't read the best reviews on them, also, I've heard conflicting reports about putting them on renal diets

Asked by: Anne
So sorry to hear your furry baby has been diagnosed with kidney disease. Unfortunately we do not have any veterinarian's on staff to address this issue. You may want to speak to your veterinarian concerning this issue or get a second opinion with another veterinarian. You may also check the education section on our website. One of the ingredients listed is "ash." What is ash and why is it in the catfood?

Asked by: catluver
Ash contains minerals and vitamins and is essential for your pet's health. It is called ash because when the food is burned (to determine its analysis) carbohydrate, fibre, fat and protein are all incinerated. Ash is the part of the food that remains after incineration.

Is the senior cat food hard? Is there a brand of cat dry cat food that can be easier for her to chew?

I have a 14 year old cat and she does not chew her food thoroughly and I thought may be she needed softer dry food. Sometimes she vomits and pieces of hard food undigested come out with the hair ball.
Asked by: chris
My little one struggles with hard food as well because she's lost a few of her teeth, she's 15. It is hard food but it's smaller pieces so it's easier to just swallow if she has to. The vomit is probably just because she has a hairball and food just happens to come with it. I put my cat on treats they have on here that help the hairballs breakdown and go through the digestive tract and it works very well she hasn't had a hairball since i've been giving them to her, they're soft treats if you wanted to also try that.

My cat is diabetic and is given an insulin shot twice a day.

Does PetMeds have diabetic cat food, dry and wet? I am currently giving him Purina DM (Dietetic Management) They also call it PVD Feline DM can and dry.
Asked by: Georgie
Diabetic cats are best fed with low carb canned food, and Petcurean GO! Grain Free cat is low carb. As well there is a low carb dry food in the Grain Free line. It is important to remember when switching to any food, to monitor glucose levels, and many cats do not require glucose after switching to low carb.
