Malaseb Shampoo
Malaseb shampoo product review: While itching and allergic dogs are tough enough for us to deal with in everyday veterinary practice, the secondary bacterial and/or yeast infections from excessive itching can be equally as frustrating. In fact, many clients of allergic pets often spent hundreds of dollars in a year on very expensive oral antibiotics and antifungal agents to help combat these often recurrent skin infections. That is why it is so important, and why I always stress to those clients who own allergic pets with secondary infections to use topical shampoo and conditioner therapy, to help cut down on those environmental allergens, molds, grasses, and pollens which often stick to the fur on pets' paws and coats, leading to worsening allergies and infections. This wonderful shampoo is a combination of antifungal and antibacterial 2% chlorihexiderm, as well as 2 percent miconazole. The latter antifungal ingredient is also wonderful in those pets afflicted with ringworm. While I sometimes find it difficult to use on my feline patients, this versatile shampoo can be used up to twice to three times weekly in acutely affected animals with bacterial staph and/or yeast/ringworm overgrowth without drying the skin, and then tapered to the lowest effective frequency to help keep these infections in check. As with other topical therapies, when incorporated into an overall skin program, such great shampoos as this allow us to use much lower frequencies of prescription oral medications. I therefore give this product an overall rating/efficacy of a 5. With an ease of use a 5.

Vet Recommended
Our vet recommended Malaseb for our Shar Pei. These dogs have very sensative skin that require a great deal of treatment. Without it, she had hot spots and constant itching. Our dog now has a great coat, no more itching and hot spots. Highly recommended. We've been using it weekly for years on multiple dogs.

Immediate Relief / Results
We rescued a black lab that has seriously sensitive skin and it was driving her crazy. Some other shampoos worked well but due the frequency in whihc we have to bathe her, those products were drying out her skin and, in the end, was adding to the problem. Our vet recommended / provide Malaseb and it began providing relief immediately. We still have to bathe our lab every 7-10 days but we have no problems with the frequent use. Our dog has learned that bath time now provides a welcome relief and no longer runs and hides when the towels and tub are in view.

immediate results
My shih tzu has licked her feet ever since she turned one year old. We've tried everything and nothing works as well as Malaseb. I love to treat her holistically and had been washing her feet daily in an all natural anti-fungal shampoo leaviing on for 10 min, then rinsing and final soak in 1 pt vinegar, 1 pt peroxide and 16 pt. water. It would give her a few hrs of relief, but that's all. Malaseb is wonderful and I will continue to buy it as long as necessary. She was a miserable little girl before, and now we all resting comfortably.

We just adopted a puppy, he is a large breed puppy(lab & something?) and he has dandruf, fleas and ticks. He is about 5 months old, can we use it on him?
AnswersAnswer:Â Yes, Malaseb Shampoo can be used on your dog. First, start with a trip to your vet and get the parasites under uncontrol. The shapmoo will help his dandruff.Answer:Â Thanks for your questions, I would suggest you use the Be Flea Free shampoo to handle the flea & tick issue. As for the dandruff, you might want to use an oatmeal conditioner to moisturize the skin from the outside and use a fish oil supplement to help from the inside.AnswersAnswer:Â My dogs have never had mange. I suspect a medicated shampoo Rx written by your vet and purchased at PetMeds would be the best start. Add Malaseb shampoo to your bath routine every week and you will see softer skin and a healthier coat.
how many ounces is the 250 mg bottles of malaseb shampoo in the 8 oz and the 16 oz botttles? and what is the price of each?
AnswersAnswer:Â The Malaseb Shampoo is not pacakaged in mgs. It is packaged in mLs either 250 mL or 500 mL bottles. I can only find the 250 mL here at PetMeds and you can simply search the item here because the price may change from what I tell you. Malaseb is the product name and the active ingredients are 2% Chlorhexidine Gluconate and 2% Miconazole Nitrate. I use this product on my English Bulldogs and LOVE IT! I think you may as well.AnswersAnswer:Â You can purchase a gallon size of Malaseb Shampoo and I have. Right now, I haven't been able to find gallon containers...I think it's a back order or something like that.Note: Any trademarks are the property of their respective companies. |
