Levothyroxine

Levothyroxine is used to treat hypothyroidism in dogs and cats by replacing thyroid hormone that the body no longer makes. It is available in 9 scored tablet strengths ranging from 0.1mg to 1.0mg. The usual dose for dogs is 0.1mg/10 pounds of body weight by mouth twice a day. The usual dose for cats is 0.05 to 0.1mg once a day. Blood tests need to be performed on a regular basis to monitor thyroid levels. (sold per tablet)
