What is the most important information I should know about Iverhart Plus: Iverhart Plus is a prescription medication available as pork liver flavored chewable tablets. The usual dose of Iverhart Plus in dogs up to 25 pounds is 68mcg/57mg (Blue box), for dogs 26-50 pounds is 136mcg/114mg (Green box) and for dogs 51-100 lbs 272mcg/227mg (Brown box). Dogs over 100 lbs are given a combination of tablets.
What is Iverhart Plus: Iverhart Plus is given once a month for the prevention of heartworm disease in dogs. Iverhart Plus also protects against hookworms and roundworms in dogs. It is recommended by the American Heartworm Society that heartworm prevention be given year-round. Iverhart Plus may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this guide.
What should I discuss with my veterinarian before giving Iverhart Plus to my pet: Tell your veterinarian if your pet has ever had an allergic reaction to the medication.
How should this medication be given: Give Iverhart Plus exactly as directed by your veterinarian. If you do not understand the directions ask your pharmacist or veterinarian to explain them to you. Use with caution in collies. Heartworm testing should be performed prior to the start of prevention therapy. If your pet is off Iverhart Plus for 6 months or less, start the medication and test after 6 months since microfilaria, that take 6 months to mature, will result in a positive test result. Store Iverhart Plus at room temperature. Do not remove the tablet from its wrapper until ready to give to your pet. Keep this medication away from children and pets. The safe use of this drug has not been evaluated in pregnant or lactating bitches.
What happens if I miss giving a dose: Give the missed dose as soon as you remember. Do not give a double dose of the medication.
What happens if I overdose the pet: Seek emergency veterinary medical treatment. Symptoms of overdose may include vomiting, diarrhea, and lack of coordination in dogs.
What should I avoid while giving Iverhart Plus to my pet: Because humans can contract hookworms from animals, it is important to maintain good personal hygiene. It is also important to eliminate fleas on your pet and in the household and to not feed your pet rodents or uncooked meat or fish. To prevent reinfection, daily cleanup of stools is recommended.
What are the possible side effects of Iverhart Plus: Side effects of Iverhart Plus are rare at the recommended heartworm prevention dose. Higher doses in dogs may cause tremors, dilated pupils, loss of body weight, or death.
What other drugs will affect Iverhart Plus: Do not give Iverhart Plus if your pet is already being given another heartworm medication.
Where can I get more information: Your pharmacist has additional information about Iverhart Plus written for health professionals that you may read.

Jarod is very happy with his Iverhart chewables. Loves the flavor no problem switching from Heartgard. The LARGE trreat is the winner in the package. Service is hassle free and friendly. Thanks so much. JAROD 13 1/2 year old Golden :))
I just had Archie to our Vet and she says Arichie is in great shape and very healthy. I have been giving Iverhart Chewables for over a year. He healthy and the price is right Thanks, Betty and Archie
to whom ever wants to listen this product works better than any I have tried in the last (4) four years and at a price that even makes it perfect for my (2) two animals that are my world! I thank 1-800-petmeds for their help and considerations for my pets. thank you again Quentin
I decided to try the Iverhart Plus and wasn't sure if Desz would like them.....the did and he knew the difference between that and a snack because when it it time for his medicine he sits in front of me and when it's time for a snack he runs to his cage. His visit to the vet was good .... not worms so it is just as good ans effective as the leading brand. I'm sticking w/it.
For pet's that weigh over 100 lbs, you would need to use a combination of tablets. For example, you would give 1 tablet of Heartgard Plus 51-100 lbs along with 1 tablet of Heartgard Plus up to 25 lbs as a single dose each month.
If your veterinarian has indicated on the prescription that he/she wants the brand name Heartgard Plus, then we cannot change the prescription to the generic Iverhart Plus. Depending on the state you live in the veterinarian may indicate DAW, no generics, medically necessary, etc. All of these mean we need to dispense the brand of medication exactly as prescribed.
Good question. However, I'm confused why you say we don't list the mg under product details when we do. Iverhart Plus contains ivermectin (to prevent heartworms) and pyrantel pamoate (to prevent roundworm and hookworm. Iverhart Plus, for dogs 6 weeks of age or older, is available in 3 strengths; for dogs 1-25 lbs, 26-50 lbs, and 51 to 100 lbs. Iverhart Max contains the same ingredients as Iverhart Plus with an additional ingredient, praziquantel (to prevent tapeworm). Iverhart Max, for dogs 8 weeks of age or older and at least 6 lbs, is available in 4 strengths; for dogs 6-12 lbs, 12.1-25 lbs, 25.1-50 lbs, and 50.1-100 lbs.
