What should I discuss with my veterinarian before applying Genesis Topical Spray on my pet: Do not apply Genesis Topical Spray to your pet if the pet has a serious bacterial, viral, or fungal infection. Genesis Topical Spray may weaken the pet's immune response and its ability to fight infections. Tell your veterinarian if the pet is pregnant or lactating.
How should this medication be used: Apply this medication exactly as directed by your veterinarian. If you do not understand the directions ask the pharmacist or veterinarian to explain them to you. Apply sufficient pump sprays to uniformly and thoroughly wet the affected areas while avoiding run-off of excess product. Genesis Topical Spray should be applied twice a day for 7 days, once a day for the next 7 days, then every other day for an additional 14 days for a maximum of 28 days of therapy. An overdose is more likely to occur due to the medication being used over a long period of time beyond the recommended 28 days. Symptoms of overdose may include weight gain, panting, increased thirst, hunger and urination, vomiting, diarrhea, and Cushing's syndrome.
What should I avoid while applying Genesis Topical Spray on my pet: Wear gloves when applying Genesis Topical Spray. Use only in a well-ventilated area. Do not get spray into pet's eyes. This medication should not be used beyond 28 days.

My greyhound Athena is doing very well on the Genesis spray...this year particularly allergies have been awful, but the Genesis Spray really is effective.
Sulfodene 3 Way Ointment works great for my dog. We keep an e-collar on him for most of the day when he's the itchiest so that he doesn't lick the product away but it rids him of the itchy spots fairly quickly. Also, a bath using EarthBath Oatmeal & Aloe shampoo (3 times a week) and Earth Bath Anti-Itch Tea Tree Oil Spray (contains Oatmeal & Aloe). Bathe in luke warm to cool water. Leave shampoo on for 90 seconds, rinse well, towel try, and spray entire body, legs, and paws with anti-itch spray, massage in. Good luck!

You should purchase the Zymox with hydrocortisone ear drops and use it exclusively for 7 days. If relief is not complete use it for another 7 days.
Anytime there are children around, medications need to be stored safely out of their reach. As to Genesis Topical, after applying the product let it dry before allowing children to pet the animal. This will usually take around 2 hours. You should also use the spray in a well ventilated area to prevent the mist from being inhaled.
An excellent product for hot spots on dogs is a product called Be Soothed which contains Tea Tree oil.

Pet Meds offers a variety of products for your pets hot spot issues. The Genesis Topical Spray is an excellent choice; however, it does require a prescription. Non-prescription products are available. If you prefer a holistic product, then Yucca Intensive is the ideal choice. It is an all natural derivative of various plants (primarily the yucca plant) and can be used for a multitude of issues such as hotspots, digestive problems, arthritis issues, allergies and seizures. We also have products with Tree Tea oil; which are beneficial in relieving hot spot discomfort; try "Be Soothed Spray" or "Oatmeal and Tea Tree Oil Infuser."
