    What is Frontline Plus?

Frontline Plus is a monthly topical flea and tick preventative for dogs and cats. Frontline Plus kills 100% of adult fleas on your pet within 12 hours and 100% of all ticks and chewing lice within 48 hours. Frontline Plus contains an insect growth regulator, S-methoprene, which kills flea eggs and larvae. It’s effective against all stages of the brown dog tick, the American dog tick, the lone star tick and the deer tick (the major carrier of Lyme disease). (3 Pack = 3 doses which lasts 3 months.)
Frontline Plus for Dogs and Cats
For: Cats/Kittens and Dogs/Puppies (8 weeks of age and older)

    Kills ticks and chewing lice

    How it works:
Frontline Plus contains fipronil, a broad-spectrum insecticide and slow-acting poison that disrupts the central nervous system of fleas and ticks and S-Methoprene, an insect growth regulator that kills flea eggs and larvae. The active ingredients are stored in the sebaceous glands and are wicked out of the hair follicles and continuously re-applied to the coat for long-lasting, waterproof protection.

    Cautions:
Your pet may experience some temporary irritation at the site of application. If signs persist or become more severe within a few days of application, consult your veterinarian immediately.

no mess, no fuss!:)) I read reviews to pick this product for Katie, my cat, who was pulling her hair out and could not stop scratching, it stopped all of that!!! So I also purchased this for my dog, Chico! It really works gggrrrrreeeaatt!! 05/19/2013
Great Product! Frontline Plus has been great for Bandit! He has not had fleas or ticks in a very long time! The application is great, and easy....but opening the package is somethat difficult! They should make it much easier to open! 05/18/2013
Frontline and chews Frontline works well on our pets here in Colorado. Reading the back of the "chews" package more carefully left me with concerns about a few of the ingredients that make up the chews. Also, they are actually made in Mexico. I would rather purchase products made in the United States. The arrival of products from order date to arrival is great! 05/18/2013
I use front line on all my pitts no more fles on me 05/18/2013

One pack as in a single dose? They normally come in packs of 3 or 6, if you want a single dose, visit your local vet or Banfield at petsmart, but be aware they make their money on single doses so you will be paying a higher rate if you do so

My dog is a French Bulldog (so, short-haired) who seems to have a number of loosely understood allergies (she was a rescue dog and I've had her for only 6 months#. I am doing my best to understand/research whenever she seems to react to something. I have a question about the use of Frontline Plus which I will describe.

I usually bathe my dog with a specific shampoo from Earthbath which is labeled as being hypo-allergenic. However, it seems that every time I do bathe her, within 24-48 hours of the bath she develops red bumps on her skin which can persist for days or weeks. These symptoms are consistent with allergy attacks, possibly flea allergy dermatitis, but it could be anything. It struck me that perhaps what was happening is that her flea medication, even if applied days/weeks beforehand and well soaked in, was being rubbed off temporarily by the bath, and she was getting flea bites before the medication could replenish itself onto her skin. So to try to test this, a few days ago I gave her a bath, waited a few hours until she seemed completely dry #she's short-haired so it doesn't take long), and then applied Frontline Plus. She was never let outside between the bath and the application of Frontline Plus. Then I let her outside to go to the bathroom, brought her back inside, and the rest of the day went on. The very next morning I woke up to find she had the same bumps as usual all over her body.

Suspecting that fleas may have once again been the cause, and that the bath may have been the catalyst to it, I purchased a flea comb to try to see if there were any signs of fleas on her. No active fleas or flea droppings were found on her skin that I could see. However by this point it had been 48 hours since the bath and subsequent application of Frontline, so perhaps the medication started "working" finally? I am not sure because I still thought I'd see evidence of fleas being there at some point.

As a note, I have had her on Frontline Plus for a straight 6 months now (every 30 days) and I have never seen her react after the application of Frontline onto her skin. It's always been the bath that triggers the reactions.

Anyway, I am just asking if there is any documented incidents of something like this happening. I understand that the shampoo might be a culprit as well in the allergy flareup, but being that it specifically says it's hypoallergenic, I am less likely to suspect the shampoo right now and am pursuing causes that appear a little more likely. Thanks for your time in letting me know a little more on the specifics of how this medication works and responds to a bath.

    Answer:
As Hypo-Allerginic it may be, there may be something your dog is allergic to in that shampoo, flea meds shouldnt be the cause for this as it would have made your dog very ill upon application, I would read the ingredients on the bottle, and shop for a different soap and see which ingredient is different, what causes this is if the shampoo has Parfum or an added scent to it. Best was to determine an allergy is start weening down the ingredients to solve this problem. Good luck

    Answer:
Please discontinue using the shampoo mentioned above on your pet for baths. Hypoallergenic is not a guarantee your pet will not be allergic or sensitive to a particular ingredient in the product. Please consult with your veterinarian to discuss a different shampoo with different ingredients. Frontline Plus may be applied 24 hours after your pet has been bathed.

There has not been any known reactions from using a flea med before the 30 days are up, however I do suggest waiting at least 24hrs after first application since flea meds take 24hrs to soak in after application

    Answer:
There are no known drug interactions between the two products but you should not need additional flea prevention when using trifexis. If you need a tick prevention you may use a tick collar or consult with your veterinarian to see if the frontline plus is appropriate for your pet.
