The Flexi Retractable Leash is a convenient and easy to use leash for dogs. The leash provides freedom for your dog and one hand convenience for you when walking your pet. World's #1 selling retractable leash. A Consumers Digest Best Buy.
For: Dogs
Benefits:
•
Easy to use
•
Includes up to 16 feet of cord
•
Provides one hand retracting and braking
•
More convenient than typical dog leashes
How it works:
Hold the flexi leash by the hand grip. The leash cord will retract to allow your dog movement until the cord runs out or you push the brake button on the hand grip.
Cautions:
Keep out of reach of children. This leash is intended to help lead and restrain your dog.
Directions:
•
Hold leash by the handle, not the cord.
•
For quick or abrupt braking the brake button prevents your dog from going too far away.
•
Pressing down on the brake button automatically release the cord allowing your dog to walk more freely.
•
The brake lock keeps the brake locked in place. Press down on the brake button and press the brake lock to secure the current cord length.
Tip: When in use during low temperatures, the cord may freeze when wet causing difficulty when retracting. To prevent this from occurring, spray the cord with a water repellent (non-toxic) before walking your dog.

My 1st visit to 1800PetMeds; so sorry to see all the negative comments! Bought my light-duty retractable leash at a store many years ago (close to 10 years now), and LOVE it! Originally bought for my cat, but now my Shihtzu/Bichon X uses it daily (over 4 years for dogs), and she loves it, too. Don't EVER let your pet chew on it, as this might be most people's problem. My only complaint is that ours is corded, and in the summer, you can get a nasty ropeburn on your legs unless you're careful. For dogs that pull and choke, like mine, I recommend a harness to go with it, and when my leash wears out, I'll be buying one that's tape-based. The metal snap is getting a little worn and weak, but the leash is still plenty strong, and considering the abuse it's taken, I'd recommend it to anyone.
I have had 2 of these in the large size and they are great. Once you use one you won't go back to a normal leash. If you like to walk or run with your dog, you must have one. I have new puppy and need a smaller one, but I see they only carry the corded ones in the small and medium sizes. The tape (belt) is the one to get. Check out the Flexi website to see the tape models in the smaller sizes. I don't understand why 800petmeds doesn't caryy them???
It is not just these retractor leashes ANY retractor leash that you get is bad. Any Veterinarian will tell you not to use them, any professional dog handler will tell you not to use these leashes. They can break and cause harm to your dog. If you are unsure what kind of leash to use, talk to a dog trainer or a dog professional please.
Would not recommend to anyone. I purchased 2 of these that were rated for dogs up to 44 lbs. I've got one dog that is 20 lbs. and another at 12 lbs. After a few walks the cord began to break down at the fasten points and before you know it the dogs were breaking off the leash. This is a worthless product and is made to break down so that you have to re-purchase.
I have a 6lb Poo-Chi pup works great for him. I love the fact it retracts almost eliminates that annoying leg wrap around. At times he runs so fast he gets that hard jerk, but he must like it (stupid dog). I just wish it had a tension device that would ease that sudden jerk.
We bought a leash 'several' years ago and now it won't retract is there someplace that can repair it or is there a kit with instructions that can be purchased? We really like these leashs and depend on them during vacation trips and especially when having to evacuate for hurricanes.

There ussually are not any repair kits..i say its better off just buying new ones
Yeah there is almost a 20" nylon strap that leads to the thinner rope. That does prevent him from chewing the rope. The strap can take it, but it's best to train him not to chew it at all. Just wish it had some sort of brake to ease that sudden jerk when they are running hard..
