What is Epi-Otic Advanced Ear Cleaner?

Epi-Otic Advanced Ear Cleaner is a non-irritating ear cleanser containing anti-adhesive properties that prevent buildup of bacteria and yeast. Epi Otic Ear Cleaner is used for the cleansing of the ear canal for pets with severe otitis externa (ear infection).

Great product My 20 year old blind kitty has had a persistent case of ear mites. With the use of Epi-Otic Advanced Ear Cleanser the ear mite medication has been much more effective. After only a week I can tell that he feels much better and has a better sense of balance. Wonderful product. OH....and my cats love the dog bone! 06/22/2011
BEST EAR CLEANSER I HAVE A POODLE SHES 14 YEARS OLD SHE HAD EAR INFECTIONS AND I USED THIS AND IT REALLY WORKS THAKS TO EPI-OTIC ADVANCED EAR CLEANSER I LOVE PETMEDS YOUR THE BEST 05/11/2011
Great Ear Cleanser I learned about Epi-Otic Advanced Ear Cleanser from my veterinarian. I have two Bichon Frises. One is 13 years old and the other is 4 years old. Of my two dogs, my 13 year old has the worst ears, but I use this cleanser for both dogs' ears. Even though my older dog, in particular, hates to have her ears cleaned, she feels much better after I'm done because the wax has been removed, along with all of the excess debris. She's good to go until it's time for me to clean her ears again. Thank you, Epi-Otic, for making such a great product.. I would recommend to anyone's dog who might need a good ear cleanser. It works! 04/16/2011
I was amazed at how well this worked. Sure saved us a lot of money not having to take him in for ear cleaning. Bassets have to have their ears clened a lot. It was easy to use and very effective. He didn't seem to mind at all. And it really dissolved the ear wax. 05/11/2013
Gentle and effective I have a lab mix who gets chronic horrible ear infections, usually caused by yeast build-up. It's usually always worse in one ear, too. It was a constant battle trying to prevent these infections, especially after bathing him. After going to the vet over & over again and trying every product out there, my vet finally suggested we try this. So far, so good! Doesn't irritate his already red and inflamed ears, soothes and protects his ear against future infections. I can't say that he hasn't had an ear infection since using this, because he has. But it's greatly reduced them and really took away that nasty smell that goes along with ear infections. I know he feels better and now when I go to clean his ears, he just sits and waits patiently! 04/06/2013

Answer:
My lab mix gets ear infections constantly, especially after bathing him. Which is caused by yeast. Yeast thrives on moist, warm conditions, making the ear the perfect place for yeast growth. This won't totally prevent an ear infection, because it doesn't contain an antibiotic, but it greatly reduces the chances and protects the ear. I use this before and after I bathe him, every time, because the solution dries the water that can get inside the dogs ear from bathing or swimming. Which in turn, causes yeast infections. My labs ears are much healthier looking and he hasn't had ear infections as frequently as he did in the past. Plus it takes away that horrible smell the accompanies ear infections. I won't bathe him without using this first.

Hi, every dog/cat is different so you would want to ask your vet how effective this would be with your Furry Friend or if they are simply prone to ear issues. You also may want to look at Zymox. It is an over the counter that works great! I pasted the link below:

my dog is 16 months old and suffers with her ears. If water gets in them, eg rain, river etc ... she starts shaking her head and scratching her ears. She also smells quite bad ... is there any product i can use to get rid of her smell. I recently visited the vets and have some ear cleanser for her ... can i buy this over the counter (epi otic ear cleanser) ... assume that if i can that i should make cleaning her ears a regular occurance. How often should I use the product on my dog, just when symtoms develop, once a day, once a week, once a month?

Hi, This cleanser is great however i would definitely recommend to use the Zymox with Hydrocortisone ( The addition of hydrocortisone provides added relief from inflammation as well as relief from itching. ). The Zymox which will help with by bacterial, fungal, and yeast infections. When a smell is coming from the ears that is usual a yeast infection. (plus with yeast infections you may see brown or black guck). Do not use both medications at the same time they will cancel each other out, first use the ear cleaner as recommend then the Zymox for 7-14 days (as needed per instructions). :)

Answer:
Thanks for your question Jeff, as a professional groomer, I would advise you to check/clean your lab's ear once a week. Also, if your lab has excessive fur on the inner ear, take her to the groomer to have the fur trimmed. This will allow increased air flow to the ear and help cut down on the smell. If the smell is really bad or if you see a discharge, contact your veterinarian because this could be an ear infection.
