What is Epi-Otic Advanced Ear Cleanser?

Epi-Otic Advanced Ear Cleanser is a non-irritating ear cleanser containing anti-adhesive properties that prevent buildup of bacteria and yeast. Epi Otic Ear Cleanser is used for the cleansing of the ear canal for pets with severe otitis externa (ear infection).

For:

Dogs and Cats

Benefits:
  • Antiseptic and keratolytic (helps soften and peel the outer most layer of the skin, which is where bacteria and yeast thrives)
  • Non-irritating
  • Contains neutral pH
  • Patented anti-odor technology
  • Can be used with ear medications
  • 8 oz bottle with twist-close dropper top
How it Works:

The anti-adhesive technology in Epi-Otic Advanced Ear Cleanser uses glycotechnology that prevents pseudomonas bacteria from attaching to the skin surface. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Ear Cleanser Our Lhasa Apso has had chronic yeast infections for over 14 years. This ear cleanser works the best of any other we've used, which means less digging and head shaking due to otitis and treating with expensive enzymatics. I've been doing business with Pet Meds for many years and am always satisfied with their customer service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best! I'm very particular when it comes to cleaning my dogs long floppy ears. Most ear cleansing products contain alcohol which stings like fire. No wonder dogs hate the procedure! Epi-otic is the answer to prayer!! It's soothing and does the job. Start your pup on this and ear cleansing will be a breeze.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epiotic Advanced Epiotic Advanced is the only ear cleaner that we have found that when used regularly (we use weekly) prevents future ear infections. Prior to using Epiotic Advanced, we were battling frequent yeast infections in our Poodles ears. Once we started using Epiotic Advanced every week, the ear infections stopped. 3+ years infection free!! Thank You Epiotic Advanced!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great gentle product My GSD has had chronic ear problems since the age of 2. She has extremely sensitive ears also, which makes the cleaning process a nightmare. My holistic vet recommended this product after a 6-month battle with other products and oral meds that only created more complications because of my dog's very sensitive GI system (common in GSDs). I switched to this product at that time, along with Zymox (a pure wonder "drug") and we went from having 2-3 ear infections a year to now being ear infection free for over 3 years. This dog definitely has the most sensitive and problem ears I have ever countered (she is my fourth GSD and about my 10th dog) and I am VERY thankful for this product the the zymox with Hydrocortisone. I recommend this ear wash above ANY other. My only complaint would be that it can be difficult, if not impossible, to find locally and even at some web sites. However, 1-800 always seems to have it in stock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the best ear cleanser I have tried. My Lhasa Poo has had recurrent ear infections her whole life. I started using this ear cleanser after watching our vet use it in the office. It works! My dog's ears are healthier and she has fewer ear infections. They smell better too.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fried the ears I have used the regular strength Epi-Otic for years without any issues. I recently bought a bottle of the Epi-Otic Advanced and used it twice on my Standard Poodle's ears. He does not get his ears plucked and has never had an ear infection. The first time I used this product it seemed to work okay but I thought I saw a little redness. I had only used the product on a wad of sheet cotton and swabbed out his ears. The second time I used it I filled the ear canal per the directions and was surprised to see it really foam. Like Drain-O?, I thought. The next day he was shaking his head alot and a look inside revealed nothing due to the hair. I carefully shaved the inside of the ear leather and took care to not give him razor burn. That day and the next I could see and feel great redness and warmth from the ears. A swab out with a mix of aloe and clove oil seemed to help him. No more head shaking. I think the .2% is too strong for his tissues. It doesn't seem like a big jump from the .1 of the regular strength but it was a problem for him.

Is this ear cleaner a liquid or a gel?

Asked by: MKS
The cleaner is a liquid in a twist top bottle. It comes out fast, but, I wouldn't worry about how much you get in the ear.

Does epiotic prevent ear infections?

My dog get them a lot just naturally the vet said. Her ears got wet yesterday will the epiotic help prevent them from getting an infection when she gets water in her ears?
Asked by: Anonymous
My lab mix gets ear infections constantly, especially after bathing him. Which is caused by yeast. Yeast thrives on moist, warm conditions, making the ear the perfect place for yeast growth. This won't totally prevent an ear infection, because it doesn't contain an antibiotic, but it greatly reduces the chances and protects the ear. I use this before and after I bathe him, every time, because the solution dries the water that can get inside the dogs ear from bathing or swimming. Which in turn, causes yeast infections. My labs ears are much healthier looking and he hasn't had ear infections as frequently as he did in the past. Plus it takes away that horrible smell the accompanies ear infections. I won't bathe him without using this first.

my golden labrador puppy smells ... any sugggestions to eliminate smell?

my dog is 16 months old and suffers with her ears. If water gets in them, eg rain, river etc ... she starts shaking her head and scratching her ears. She also smells quite bad ... is there any product i can use to get rid of her smell. I recently visited the vets and have some ear cleanser for her ... can i buy this over the counter (epi otic ear cleanser) ... assume that if i can that i should make cleaning her ears a regular occurance. How often should I use the product on my dog, just when symtoms develop, once a day, once a week, once a month?
Asked by: jeffmam645
Hi, This cleanser is great however i would definitely recommend to use the Zymox with Hydrocortisone ( The addition of hydrocortisone provides added relief from inflammation as well as relief from itching. ). The Zymox which will help with by bacterial, fungal, and yeast infections. When a smell is coming from the ears that is usual a yeast infection. (plus with yeast infections you may see brown or black guck). Do not use both medications at the same time they will cancel each other out, first use the ear cleaner as recommend then the Zymox for 7-14 days (as needed per instructions). :)
