What is Cosequin DS Plus MSM?

Cosequin DS Plus MSM is a delicious tasting joint supplement for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and lifestyles. Cosequin DS Plus MSM is made with higher levels of glucosamine than Cosequin DS, and also includes chondroitin, which may improve flexibility. MSM is included to relieve pain and inflammation, and also helps maintain cell health.

For:

Dogs

Benefits:
  • Supports & maintains joint and connective tissue health
  • Helps support cartilage matrix production & protects existing cartilage from breakdown
  • MSM helps maintain a healthy immune system and rejuvenates cells
  • Dogs think of each chew as a treat
  • Recommended #1 by veterinarians
  • Scored tablets simplify administering
How it Works:

Cosequin DS Plus MSM tablets contain glucosamine which helps hydrate healthy joints by increasing the production of molecules that bind and hold water in the cartilage. Healthy cartilage provides cushioning which helps protect a pet's joints while exercising. Many believe that it provides clinical benefit in the synovial fluid by strengthening cartilage and aiding glycosaminoglycan synthesis. MSM is a sulfur compound found naturally in many foods such as cows milk, meat, seafood, and fruits and vegetables. MSM is added to joint supplements because of its effectiveness to relieve pain and inflammation of the joints. In addition, MSM also plays an important role as an antioxidant in helping to maintain healthy cells, especially in body tissue.

Cautions:

None.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Made my dog sick Bought this about a month ago. When I gave my dog her first dose, she chewed it right up and then about 10 minutes later she started throwing up. She threw up 2 more times within the next 30 minutes, so I've never given it to her again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING STUFF! i love this so much i wrote something up on facebook about it. We thought our pit mix who was a rescue with old and severe injuries would end up with an amputated leg. The doc couldn't fix it and she refused to put it down for over a month. Rear hind quarter. It atrophied. Cosequin for 3 weeks and she is now walking on it. She has to rebuild the leg and with therapy, and she is. Without the Cosequin she would be down to 3 legs right now. I cannot sing its praises enough!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This stuff is a miracle drug! I have an 11 year old Australian cattle dog who was limping badly from injuring both back knees. The only thing recommended by the vet was surgery with 6 weeks recovery and no gurantees...not to mention more than $2000.00. She is a super athletic and active animal and had stopped jumping and playing altogether. She absolutely could not jump up on the sofa, so I got her a bed to keep in the living room on the floor. A friend recommended Cosaquin DS Plus, so I tried it. I was told that you have to give it a month or two in some instances, so I have been giving her a full tablet morning and evening. Several weeks ago she just started jumping up on the sofa again and is no longer limping or acting like she's in pain. AMAZING STUFF!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great results! We have an 8 year old chihuahua and we've been noticing lately she's been having trouble getting around, just slower and not as limber as she used to be. I purchased this and after one week, it's an incredible difference. My husband commented this morning how she's running faster than we've seen in a long time. We're also giving it to our Maltese as we've heard they can suffer from joint issues as they grow older. She doesn't like the taste much but we wrap it in a piece of ham and she gobbles it right up. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works so well for my dog! I have a Rottweiler with severe arthritis. One week after he started taking the tablets I saw an improvement. Now, one month later he's running and jumping around. He was only in pain a few days(because of the damp weather.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works very well. My 14.5 year old jack russell female was having some problems - she still wanted to play ball with her 8 year old lab sister but would end up sore for several days. We don't allow her to play ball - just walks and she has improved greatly since starting cosequin ds. My local grocer sells the 60ct for 19.99 with another 2.50 off coupon in each box = less than $18.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My almost 13 year old golden retriever had known mild hip dispasia but developed spondylosis down his spine about 2 years ago. I had heard Jack Hannah advertising this product on the radio and gave it a try. I did not tell my husband. Bixby went from struggling to actually running and being frisky at times. He said "What in the world have you done to Bixby?" He now takes 2 tablets a day without any issues. I will say, due to his age and other issues, he now has to have prescribed medications. So this product won't cure the inflammation completely as dogs age, but it sure does help. At least it did in our case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This seems to work Our 14-year old lab mix was having problems walking and appeared to be in pain, daily. She was limping and favoring her front wrists. After a week or so on Cosequin (and other brands with the same ingredients), she now seldom shows signs of join pain. I have to break the tablet up in her food, because it is not a tasty treat, but she eats it and It apparently works. I recently began combining this with fish oil and I think it has helped her even more.

Should Dosequin Plus be given with food

Also, what dosage for a 107 lb dog? My bottle say over 60 lbs 3 tablets per day but is that enough?
Asked by: nonickname
Hi there, Give Cosequin DS Plus MSM with your dog's meal or after feeding to avoid stomach upset. Dogs: Initial 4-6 weeks is 3 tablets daily then after that Dogs: Maintenance dose after 4-6 weeks 1-2 tablets daily. So the correct dosage amount is 1-2 tablets daily unless directed differently by your vet.

can this be crushed to use with a dog that has no teeth?

My dog is a rescue and she had broken jaws that my vet fixed but she has no teeth due to the damage done to her jaws. So I need a powder form of medication that can be mixed into her food. As she has to have everything mashed up for her.

Proper starting dosage when switching meds

My 10 year old lab is currently taking Dasuquin and I am thinking of switching to Cosequin Ds plus MSM. Do I have to start her on 3 tablets for 4-6 weeks or do I start her with 1-2 tablets??
Asked by: Di
Hi! You have to start out with 3 tablets a day for 6 weeks. After that, 1-2 tablets a day for maintenance. It worked GREAT for my Rottweiler!
