I have two yorkies and we started giving this to them over the summer to help combat a tick problem in our neighborhood. After about a week this was well-enough into their system that there were no more tick issues. We find a random single flea on one of the dogs who likes to get into stuff but all-in-all working exactly how I wanted. Now that it is winter, the dry skin issues aren't showing up either. PS They LOVE the taste and eat the tablet like it is a treat.
I have been using Brewers Yeast with garlic for a daily supplement for my dogs for years. Everyone compliments on how soft and beautiful their coats are. Since I've been using the Brewers Yeast, they don't have the skin problems anymore. A well worth investment for dogs with long hair. They didn't like taking the pills at first, but after continued daily use, they understand they get a treat after they gobble their vitamins!
I have two tabby cats and they absolutly love it! They bugg me every morning intil i give it to them with their breakfast. I bought this as a flea aid for my cat and dog, as the current flea medication didn't work anymore. It not only helped with the fleas, but they have soft and shiny fur now, and they LOVE the taste. It's like a treat for them! :)
I've been giving my shih tzus brewers yeast with garlic for years. Before I gave them the supplement they had skin problems, dry, scaley, itchy. Since they've been taking the brewers yeast with garlic, no more skin problems and they have the most beautiful coats. I get alot of completments. They are 11 and 12 years old, and no one realizes how old they are because of their beautiful coats.
There are all kinds of articles. Some suggest that garlic could be dangerous and others claim that garlic is OK to use. I feel it is safe to give when using a product such as Brewer's Yeast with Garlic specifically made for use in dogs.
Just the recommended dosage (1 tab/day). You didn't say how old your kitty was but at least from personal experience, overloading pets w/ supplements because "more is better" can only lead to unforseen probs. For example, some vits/minerals are stored in fat and the body takes them as needed. If you give too much, the liver then has to get rid of the excess or the levels in the body become toxic. And the older your pet, the more they can cause chemical imbalances that can lead to infections.
