Common dog health concerns

Yearly exams are vital to help ensure your pet has a long, healthy life. However, sometimes the most common reasons for vet visits can be safely treated at home in the earliest stages, or even avoided altogether with a few inexpensive preventative measures. Here are my recommendations.

Skin allergies & infections

Pet parents are often surprised to learn that flea bites are the number one cause of skin allergies in pets. Using Flea5X Plus for Dogs for flea prevention helps stop bites that result in skin irritation, scratching and hair loss. Fatty acids such as those found in Be Well and Super Pure Omega 3 Soft Chews can also help with dog skin conditions.

Ear infections

Ear infections are quite common in dogs, especially those with floppy or fluffy ears. Keep your dog's ears clean on a regular basis. Removing the buildup of wax, debris, bacteria and yeast can help prevent an infection that could require veterinary care. Use Ear Cleansing Solution regularly to help keep ears clean and healthy.

Upset stomach & vomiting

Vomiting may be caused by viruses, parasites, metabolic conditions, food allergies, ingesting foreign material or just eating too fast. Support your dog's digestive function and reduce stomach upset during stressful situations with Probiotic Chewys G.I. Tract Supplement for Dogs. If vomiting persists or gets worse, an immediate veterinary examination is recommended.

The aches and pains of arthritis can become so debilitating that dogs are often brought to the vet for treatment. Give your dog Super Joint Enhancer Tablets, Super Joint Enhancer Soft Chews or Super Joint Enhancer Liquid regularly to help support joint health and improve mobility.

Diarrhea may be caused by parasites, viral infections, food allergies or metabolic illnesses. Occasional bouts of diarrhea can often be helped or prevented with digestive enzymes and probiotics such as FortiFlora or NaturVet Digestive Enzymes Plus Probiotic. If diarrhea is persistent and/or bloody, bring your dog in for a veterinary exam immediately.

Dental & gum problems

Dental disease often brings adult and senior dogs to the veterinary clinic. Dental disease can result in gum inflammation/infection, tartar or even painful tooth loss. Adding Be Fresh Dental Care Solution to your dog's drinking water can help maintain healthy teeth and gums, killing bacteria that cause plaque and tartar buildup.
