Vet Review | Dasuquin with MSM product review: There is not a bigger field of nutritional supplementation than those growing number of products used to help with a chronic health problem like degenerative joint disease and arthritis. This product is a wonderful combination of synergistic nutrients that work together in helping inflamed or degenerating joints, including glucosamine, chondroitan sulfate, MSM and Avocado/soybean. The manufacturer Nutramax has done a wonderful job in working with veterinary schools and researchers in demonstrating the efficacy of this product in clinical trials. An animal guardian can be assured that the quality and type of ingredients used in this joint supplement are genuine, which is always a concern when using other cheaper over the counter imitations sold at many health food stores. The biggest problem I have with this product is the big expense, as well as a palatability problem in a small percentage of animals. In my practice, I have found that the glycoflex line by Vetriscience has performed equally as well in my hands and at a reduced cost to Dasuquin. I have also found that the often reliable 1800petmeds super joint enhancer also can be worthwhile trying first due to the huge cost difference. No matter which glucosamine/MSM supplement one decides on trying, I do find that combining use with a wonderful antioxidant free radical scavenger like proanthozone from 1800petmeds, as well as an omega 3 fatty acid all work even better , when used together in soothing inflamed joints. However I must give this product an overall rating of a 5 with a taste/ease of use a 4. | Glyco-Flex I is a wonderful product is for those pets with early or mild arthritis. Not only does this formula have the Perna Canaliculus of the original classic formula, but additional glucosamine added helps add to the joint stabilizing effect of this supplement. This is one of the most common products I will use in younger dogs as a preventative supplement, or dogs/breeds predisposed to hip or other joint dysfunction. For pets that have more serious joint problems. I will often use the more advanced formula Glycoflex II or Glycol-flex III products. However for those pets with mild or early arthritis this will be one of the first products I will reach for off of the shelf. I only rarely see diarrhea in treated pets, and am happy to give this product an overall ranking of 4.5 out of 5. | N/A |
