| Vet Review | Dasuquin for Large Dogs is one of the first products I will reach for in large breed dogs with complaints of stiff or arthritic joints, as the combination of glucosamine, chondroitin, and avocado/soybean make this one of the best products on the market. Because of the high incidence of joint problems in large breed dogs, I will often start using this product even preventatively in middle age dogs to help slow down the likely development of arthritis as the pet ages. I have especially found this product useful in both hip, as well as stifle joint problems.With the latter area, Dasuquin may help lessen inflammation and promote healing in those dogs with sprains of the cruciate ligament or those pets with partial tears of that ligament, where surgery may not be necessary. Dogs love this tasty soft chew that can be given as a treat, and I have seen no adverse effects of this product when used in practice. My only problem with this product is the use of artificial preservatives in the formulation of this chewable, however because of its wonderful combination of ingredients; I give this product an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5. | As a holistic oriented veterinarian I am always welcoming natural products and alternatives to chemicals and prescription drugs. I often find this all natural product increases normal activity and wellness and I have used it in chronic inflammatory conditions of the skin, respiratory and digestive tract in both dogs and cats. I have seen no side effects when using this product in dogs and give the product an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5. As I mentioned under my product review for Duralactin for dogs, Duralactin for cats is wonderful nondrug alternative choice for treating various inflammatory conditions of the skin, respiratory and digestive tract. In many cases I may often use this product as an alternative to cortisone and non-steroidal anti inflammatory drugs for these conditions in our cats, which will often cut down on unwanted side effects. The patented dried milk protein concentrate is the main effective ingredient. Some cats may be sensitive to milk proteins and/or carbohydrates. If vomiting or diarrhea occurs, the product should be discontinued due to a likely allergic reaction. Because of the versatility of this product for so many feline conditions, I give this product an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5. | As a holistic veterinarian, I always try and reach for more natural holistic or homeopathic products if possible, before reaching for stronger steroid or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications. The combination homeopathic formula in Traumeel is especially useful in providing dogs and cats relief from injuries including sprains, dislocations and contusions, as well as simply relieve the swelling from any injury or trauma. While this combination homeopathic contains numerous homeopathic ingredients, it is the arnica and belladona which provide most of the symptomatic relief in my experience and opinion. I have seen this product truly work miracles in trauma cases, however I will typically only use the product for short periods of time; Generally no more than 10-14 days. After that, if a pet is still limping than a more individualized homeopathic veterinary prescription should be prescribed by a trained classical homeopath, of side effects may occur. Traumeel tablets are certainly easy to administer and there is little risk of reaction when used short term. I give this product an overall ranking of 4.5 out of 5. |
